I would sell them to you guys on the Archive for my cost which would be about $15 depending on what the prices of rattan was at the time. Actually Hobbs, Brannos usually uses Silo-tan swords. I made many of his. He goes thru them in half the time others would but they last twice as long as regular r...

Relax Noe, This can be easily defeated by one guy with a shield. This will not degrade our fighting to "trench Warfare" If any thing it might make people think twice about picking up a spear for static battles. Its just like any other combat archery. By the way... Sir Edward made this as close as he...

Cho ko nu for combat archery (yes a repeating crossbow)
Check the link. It fires 7 shots of siloflex C/A bolts in 10 seconds Sir Edward the Red of Ealdormere made them and you WILL see them on the field at Pennsic. go to: http://www.legiodraconis.com/ About halfway down the page is the link to the forum about them. I fired one this weekend at Pennsic and...

Just remember that the Higher you go in the SCA "heirarchy" the more of a servant you become. Becoming a squire is a first step in a long journey of service. Becoming a Squire means you work harder than others, be more polite than others, carry yourself a little better that others, maybe spend a lit...

Leather Musculata wanted
I would like to price a leather musculata
I would be using it for some SCA combat but mostly for roman re-enactment stuff.
Can anyone do this for a decent price??

I think we are being a little sensitive here are we not??? As always my response was tounge in cheek. While I have my reasons for not appreciating the two sword style and there is very little to support its use in period, I dont believe that telling someone to pick up a shield and learn S/SH is "not...

Please do not be upset by this comment because I think that most of what you have done here is outstanding, however it looks like you did not spend as much time and care on making the visor for your helm as you did for the rest of the work. It almost looks rushed compared to the excellent brass and ...

turkish(?) "onion top" helm question
Has any one ever made one, and how difficult is it?
Also I heard someone make a reference to an "onion top bascinet" at practice on Sunday.
Does anyone know what period and geographical area this is from?

I agree whole-heartedly with Phillip. Attitudes are changing. I am seeing more and more attempts at decent armour and I like to think that, as a group, we are helping to push the SCA away from the Pickle barrel and towards more period armour. Transitional armour is easier to make and adapt to varied...

All I wear under mine is a heavy cotton Caftan and I have had some heavy shots thrown and not had any problems at all. As a matter of fact I have asked people if they have been pulling their shots.... However you might want a little more padding if you are going to play with those "Atlantian Thugs" ...
