most of the tourneys I have run have had Excellent prizes...one was a set of stainless half gauntlets and basket hilts....and one was even a brand new stainless helmet as a novice prize....but we never announce there is a prize, or what it is before hand....makes it more of a surprise!

I agree with you Juliana...I only put one layer of blue foam in to be technically legal...then I use a spongy black foam similar to what you describe to complete the padding and absorb the shock...bule foam *only* is a concussion waiting to happen. I would rather use only eggshell foam than only blu...

Just because you can't prove it doesn't mean it wasn't used. Bjorn Swiftaxe Dude...dont go down that road.....

A soft supple deerskin is nice and comfortable.. but for the actual breast area I would suggest getting some sheep skin, and then shaving it down so it is nice and smooth and fairly thin and gluing it inside the cup...that way it is soft, supportive and ...

We do allow pommel strikes....

If you have a great sword, you put a 2" thrusting tip on the end of the pommel and you can strike with it but only to the face... at least thats how the rules are around here.

I think Tarquin needs to re-pad the helmet.
When I saw him in it, it looks like it sits too high on his head.

By re seating the helmet lower it will create less stress on his neck

I used heavy cardboard (3 layers glued together) with some faric (muslin) glued over top.

It makes a surprisingly sturdy shield that holds up well to boffer combat.

curving it would be an issue though.
