"butted" refers to the ends of the rings being pushed closed but not attached together in any way...like riviting or welding would do.

actually most recent research combined with period documentation shows that mail of sufficient quality over padded foundation garments was more than enough protection for most weapons, including archery, of the maille age....even turning many spear thrusts which were far more likely to be deadly tha...

thats odd.... we train here to strike with the top 6 inchesof the blade....its the sweet spot in the very center of that area in which most of the force of your shot is tranferred to your opponent. Of course we are told here that we throw shots differently than elsewhere in the Mid... more of a "whi...

As I said.... I will still participate in battles that do not include shafted arrows.... Lillies War is a good example of where I do not beleive a safety issue exists...as Calontir does not allow anything but golf tubes... The Midrealm and Ealdormere are the same. So there are places that I would gl...

Highness, As would I ...however I have yet to see an event out here that has that kind of flexible format. I would likely NOT have this issue if we were to have 20 battles in a day of which 10 were with combat archery including shafted arrows and 10 with out C/A alltogether. That is plently of fight...

If you read my post you would see that I have stated that there is no other aspect of our combat that I feel unsfe with. I disagree with your assessment. Our sport is far safer than most full contact sports and if the armour standards and "excessive force rules" are followed....it is for the most pa...

Yes...I beleive Duke Cuan summed it up nicely.
I was looking at it from the perspective of being the Royal making the decision....not the Chiv being asked.

Only the King can decide upon elevation...the order only advises.

there is far more to being a Knight than Prowess....however it IS one of the most important traits. If 25 year old "hot stick" is a total tool OFF the field then his chances of being knighted are slim to none. Given the choice between the two examples...I would Knight the older veteran first. wow... footwork IS fighting. unless your targeting is so precise that you can hit any small gap presented in any persons defense, the best defense is to NOT be there. Thats all footwork. You could easily put your Baldar Blunts on siloflex or golf tubes and have minimal impact on performance in most of our scenarios.
It is all we allow here and our C/A's are very effective.
