Thank you Gentlemen, You honor the unworthy, but I am grateful for your confidence. On a different matter, I contacted Hjalmr, who directed me to his gallery of helmets. For what I have seen, one could get (prices may have changed) an Anglo-Norman conical helmet from him for $80 in mild and $100 in ...

Wenzel, It was my understanding from the very beginning that the purpose of this battle, besides having great fun, was to elevate the degree of historical accuracy of the kits. A sort of COTT for the 11th century, with a more or less gradually increasing demand/requirement for kit accuracy. The idea...

It would be nice to start getting estimated numbers of possible participants for Pennsic XL, if anything, to ensure we have our time slot in the battlefield. As stated by many before, we all had a blast and I understand that many others are working on nice kits for this event inside Pennsic. -------...

Semja's inspiring attitude....
My brother Man-At-Arms Semja was named "Most inspiring fighter" in yesterday's Holiday Faire at Stierbach (Atlantia) for his tireless bravery in the lists... He made us members of House Lestrange, Sir Guy's household, very proud, and I wanted to boast in front of all you guys. I need to ge...

I'm not sure why you have it labeled as 1358 though, the British Library dates it as 1380-1400.
That is the date mentioned on "The Great Warbow"

Basket hilt question...
I have not seen welded "cage" type Aluminum basket hilts, though they make cup style of the same metal.
Is there anything inherently difficult about welding aluminum, or just lack of demand?

Those are really nice!! Nice work Maximus! ---- If you prefer metal, Gunther of Orkney here in the AA makes the sexiest ones I have seen (I fight in such a leg setup ) light as feathers and hard as rocks. There are excellent period examples in the Met in NY. For mine I chose the rings and lace system, i.e. a metal ring, held by a metal strap, riveted to the armour, so the halves can be laced to each other http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3278/2704022593_9a473fa12c.jpg This is from the British Museum m ...

Any armorers attending Atlantia's Holiday Faire?
I need a little, simple and fast work done to my hauberk, which I hesitate to do myself, and just realized that Atlantia's Holiday Faire at Siterbach is tomorrow..
Any armorer attending capable and willing to cut the slits in front and back of my hauberk?
Thanks!

Tyr, I would respectfully suggest you buy the old folks a nice present as a thank you gesture. They just saved you a LARGE chunk of money. Maybe a small holiday basket or gift would do the trick. Also, a nice photo of you in nice garb or armour in front of their tent would be a kick for them, and a ...

Identical in concept but a lot prettier than my Hoplite spear for SCA fighting. Excellent size. If I did not have mine, and I'd pick this one up on the spot. Good value too, with Sir Vitus craftsmanship. Good for Vikings, saxons, Normans and Greeks, actually, it looks like anyone fighting spear and ...

But frankly, since my archaeology days, it is all about clay. Either painted like Greek pottery, or plain red/brown clay...
