Tell me about rapiers, SCA rapier fighting, etc....
I know very little about this and I am curious. How do you select a sword? How do you make it safe for SCA use? What equipment do you need for fighting rapier? Training, I am sure I can figure out Do you get a sharp and a blunt sword or it is the same by the addition of a button? Thanks! Glaukos

I've often wished (I know there are commanders that would HATE this idea) that we did a Pennsic or two like they do Lillies. Make up 'teams' i.e. Crusaders vs. Sacarens or Dukes versus Count, Laurels vs. Pelicans and let group and fighter join up and just fight each day. Totally remove the silly wa...

Holy cow! that is awesome....
I am thinking something akin to (ahem...) the garb that Clive Owens wore in Elizabeth the Golden Age.
I KNOW it is a movie and it makes the laurels mad, but I am referring to the look, not the precise outfit.

The only better gift might have been a virgin for sacrifice, but I understand that these are in short supply among the Dread Lord's minons. Ironmonger is among the best helmet armorers (and other items) in the SCA. Not only is the quality/price ratio excellent, but he is an absolute pleasure to deal with and the soul of honesty.
