Insane has great points. If this may help. I use an old nightstick I got as a gift as a model for my sword grips. I bought an angle grinder and a pleated sanding wheel specifically to grind sword grips. I just clean up the knots of the "blade" a little bit, but the grip gets a full police ...

Understood but...what happens in that moment of crossing at the ankles when your opponent comes in fast? Your body is the lever arm and the point of torque in response to his force is just above your crossed ankles because of how close your feet are to each other...just something to think about. Pr...

Aaron Being far from an expert in polearms, I agree with most that the music was distracting you not helping you. If fighting is a sort of dance, it has a rhythm of its own and you were dancing to the music played in the hall, not to rhythm of the fight. Honestly, there was Shemp-like quality to you...

Casting a mould of armour....

Greetings, I currently own a great seat of greaves made for me by an armourer who is no longer in business. They are awesome and fit great, but being made of Mild steel, they rust no matter what I do to them. My current main supplier of combat armour has agreed to make a version of these in stainles...

WTB: 8 y/o GIRL garb

I just realized that my oldest one may not fit in last year's garb for our yearly shopping event at Stierbach.

If you have NICE garb for an 8 year old girl, please give me a yell.

Thanks!!!

Re: White leather blowout- belts, scabbards etc.

Thanks Cian,

I read that posting again and only then I realized that the leather Sir Vitus was referring to was White color (not just natural) , which of course I would not use.

My bad.
Thanks for making me read it again.

Special guard and pommel for SCA sword (question)

Ok, I admit I DO get carried away a bit sometimes, but I can't get my mind off the Crusader with the Chinese sword in the Met. So let's assume one wanted to make an SCA sword to look like that. What would you do? m The lacing of the grip is not the problem, I can get that with some practice. The tri...

Otto and Hjalmr are excellent sources for HELMETS of the type you may be looking for. Great value for the money in both cases. As for the rest: You may want to consider buying some very basic stuff for your first kit, just to get you out there and start, so you can decide what works for you and what...

Good points.

Thank you all.

So I guess it would be just for carry as opposed to "backup", which, while removing the "deploying" part still requires some thought as to a way to schlepp it around.

Maybe just a simple piece of leather cord might do.....

Thanks!

Also, any dark purple on the belt?

Carrying a two handed sword in the field...

While I am getting a new shield blank, I'll start practicing some spear and two handed sword fighting. It occurred to me that it would be cool to be able to carry both in the field, with the bastard sword as a backup to the spear. somehow a dagger, while cool may not cut it unless you are RIGHT NEXT...

Polishing already assembled armour

Greetings, I am considering unhooking my full plate harness from the wall, to wear for when I use spear and bastard sword, and I realized that my Sallet is stainless and much more shiny than my otherwise great Merc Taylor torso and pauldrons. Is there a good method for a NON armourer to add a measur...

Ok, So I had the help of an Elf, who got me access to a copy of the article by Helmut Nickel. Well my guess was right. Hard to follow a Prince's comments, but I'll try. As for quitting, you don't.
