Looking for Corinthian helmet (starting search)
I may be considering a Hoplite kit for next Pennsic, and of course the helmet comes to mind first. Who makes nice Corinthian helmets that truly reflect the style? (as opposed to the standard bowl top with two face plates and a nasal added later.) I saw a nice one in mild and brass from Lonely Forge,...

Has anybody used the 8.5' size?? That's more in my budget, and it's probably just going to be me in it. Edward, I would suggest you shamelessly ask John when he's going to have sales and specials. I am one person alone too and it is amazing how quickly I fill up a 12.5 round pavilion. bed, 2 tubs o...

Ok, I drove by Home Depot. I realized that D. Sebastian's version is slightly over-engineered for my armour. I guess I was successful in lightening up my kit.. It took me about 5 bucks of materials and some 10 minutes of work. I never spent less at Home Depot that I can remember. 2 foot x 1/2 inch r...

Has anyone tried to modify one of their rounds for use with the spoke wheel configuration? I am in the planning stages of making my own 12 ft round, and what I was going to pay just for the canvas is just a little less than what they are charging for their round, and it's already put together! Jent...

So do I. John was great and the tent is awesome (12.5 round pavillion) An excellent value tent and also good quality regardless of price. I know where I am going if I need a new tent. Aaron, I use a 3/4 inch steel pipe center pole and long lines. I simply have no room in my car for the side poles. T...

A. Jabbar, The stuff does not look bad, although I'd like to see more of the shoes. Some questions: What type construction do you use? in what sizes are they available (different widths also)? What materials do you use for uppers, sole and midsole if any? are they stitched with a lockstich or chains...

I stand corrected then. I was under the impression -apparently mistaken- that the issue was more of being time consuming than actually technically demanding. I am not an armourer myself, so my knowledge comes from dealing with them. I have seen rather crude items selling for lots of money, and excel...

Gambeson advisory.
Gentles, Before I even started fighting, when I started collecting the pieces for my first harness, I bought one of these gambesons for pretty short money. I understand these are imported by Museum Replicas. m m It is probably the first one most starting people will look at because of price. As it h...

Now I feel like an Idiot. But not fully. I made something of he sort, basically a cross, about 5 feet tall built with 3/4 steel pipe and a Tiki Torch stake m to keep it standing. The advantage of using steel pipe for the horizontal member is that I can use it for hangers with garb as well, behind th...

A note on lower leg armour. There are several issues to be considered when dealing with lower leg armour. One is shape, the other movement. The human lower leg is not tubular, as much as bulbous, and it also changes shape and volume during movement. What may have worked for a mounted warrior did no ...

The best one I know is Carlo Carignan of Truehart Armoury in Canada. I have seen few people actually GET the shape of the shin and calf the way he does. He is simply awesome. But I think he's gone for soldier in the Canadian Armed Forces and he may not be taking custom orders right now. (as of late ...

With the arrival of the new Mummy movie you cannot turn your head anywhere without seeing the famous Chinese terra-cotta warriors. To be honest, if you have good stuff and reasonable proces you may not need a reseller, only a decent webpage and paypal. Period footwear is a barely touched field, so that people would flock to get stuff if it becomes available. I recall how hard it was for me to get some stuff, and there is not a ...

I think he's talking about Torvald's arming belt , which is listed on his site at $50. I have one of his splinted kidney belts, and I must say the workmanship is top-notch. (Thanks Todd) Yep, but this is version 2.0 of the arming belt. More ergonomic than the one in the website. Though all belts ar...

Torvaldr's C belt
It rocks.
Make sure you give him correct measurements, so you don't need to do surgery on it as I had to. But wonderful thing once properly fitted to you. I could probably go jogging with my legs on using that belt.
Get yerself one.

Fremain, I am VERY tight space wise in my van, but push come to shove I can dig up some legs and shoulders . I lent my arms to someone so I don't have them. My fault!! I misinformed Frieman but Kallmunz castle was built in 1255 so 13th Century not 12th. I was going off the architectural style when I told him but after more looking into it I found out the actual building time frame/first occupancy. Thorvaldr edited: for castle view. My answer.. Take your water to the Kingdom Pavilion on the field keep it there. I've noticed alot of kingdom Pavilions have water, munchies etc for their troops laid out ala hospitality table style. Well then, That was an intersting read of a thread. For the uninitiated who does not relish the idea of SCA fighting while carrying a camelback, those proposing the individual supply thing, who do you bring to the field enough water, let''s say at Pennsic. This is not a retorical question. I am real...
