Re: SCA Spear 2 inch thrusting tips
They don't look like Q-tips.
They "feel" a bit more substantial on the receiving end.
They make you consider wearing more "period" and less "sport" armour.
I would respectfully suggest you ask His Grace : why?

Re: Know where I can find a lyre?
As Ingvarr said, Freiman the Minstrel. I have seen the photos of what he makes. Unfortunately, he does not have the time and general inclination to make a Greek lyre, which would be awesome buy also VERY expensive because of the work involved. There is a fellow named Michael J. King in the UK that s...

Review: Miscreant period trestles.
5 out of 5 . The things look amazing, solid, well made and nice to look at. They disassemble flat and once assembled they are steady. Price, quality, communication, etc. Superb. Miscreant also made me a couple of years ago a cute little Greek style party table (lower than your chair, and meant to ho...

Re: Midwest Tent Reviews?
I had a 12 foot round that I sold to an archiver and currently use the little wall tent, more along the lines of my Greek persona. As stated above, the tents are not fancy, but they are well made, sturdy and affordable. John the owner is very good with communication and receptive to new ideas. Also,...

Re: Leather covered shins / greaves
I think they look fantastic. As long as the plastic is well covered and the desired visual effect is achieved, it is hard to argue with results like that. I got an old set of leather ones from my knight, which I had to reshape by wetting very well and then attaching them to a set of Greek stainless ...

Ok, So now I am a bit clearer. You personally do not believe that the current rules are sufficiently explicit, and you believe that the current minimal standard is not enough. I tend to agree with you. What would be then your suggestion (without expletives or epithets) about making a rule that woul...

Stepping back into the fray, so to speak. The way to deal with "Wrasselin guy" is through the simple expediant of the carrot and the stick. Reward those who continue to improve their kit with baronial/principality/kingdom awards for authentic armour. Make sure that the unbelted fighters s...

The fighter on the right, in the above photo, is a good example of no one thing being wrong, but the anachronistic combination of all the elements making it an SCAism. Modern Japanese martial arts clothes, plastic "Clam shell" gauntlets (of which there is no such term I am awear of) and S...

Re: Feedback for Mad Matt and his finger/mitten gauntlets
I got the hourglass version of these for the CoTT this year and they are superb in every sense. Setting aside the excellent craftsmanship, etc, the best I can say about Matt's gauntlets is that after a few minutes you simply forget you are wearing them and they sort of become part of your hand. Ship...

After you shape and sand the rattan to fit in the hilt, make sure you vacuum the dust off the wood. The tape will stick better. -Graedwyn George Grotz would suggest some type of rag soaked in alcohol as well. It will help wipe the dust from the grooves in the rattan and yet evaporate without damagi...
