RoaK, It was all in jest as Nissan has admirable style, but were it to happen, I can imagine worse deaths in the field than being sourrounded and beat up by you guys. One could not ask for a more worthy foe. Hopefully I will not make it too easy on all of you... My shield will have my armory and the...

Happy Anniversary Aaron, I am sorry I missed the celebration (and of course the tournament) but I am spending Passover with my wife's family in New Jersey. (unfortunately, the tournament coincided with the start of this Jewish holiday this year) Skutai has it right, your kit reveals a degree of dedi...

I just think they make awesome fighting music whether you are a Scot or not... I'm not sure to be happy or sad that the Scots keep getting all the credit for kilts and bagpipes... Well, only if you have lived in an area where there are other Celtic people you learn more. Until I moved to the US I n...

Well That would make a LOT of sense. Cadence marching is associated with close order drill and widely distributed individual, shoulder fired firearms. Otherwise your unit displaces on the field out of alignment and if the fighting starts there will be a lot of BLUE on BLUE as opposed to BLUE on RED....

This is going to sound very corny, especially from a guy with less than a year in, but: I saw him fighting in the campions tournament at Crusades, then I met him (shortly after he killed me ) and he was humble and polite with a new guy nobody knew. (or knows for that matter) Then he saluted us... Yo...

All, Thank you for your varied and learned input. Please notice though that I was not referring to the use of bagpipes in general, but in war, the same drums or horns are used on may different eras. Someone, at some point decided that the same instrument used for merrymaking, etc, would sound good o...

Earliest use of Bagpipes in Combat...
Can anyone cite the earliest know use of bagpipes in war as means of helping a march or maintaining morale?
When is the first documented use of Bagpipes in war?
I have read that they were already in use at Bannockburn...
Thanks!

Torvaldr, I don't think anyone here wants to either stress you out, or make you injure yourself or -Thor forbid- to cast a shadow on your character. What I think would REALLY help all in your work list is periodic communication initiated by you , with some more or less firm delivery dates, even if t...

This is slowly becoming an increasingly disturbing common theme... I thought it was just me. More communication would be welcome, in particular, some reasonable dates at which the stuff is expected to be done and sent. Fighting season is upon us, so it would be nice to get the stuff on time for this...

Flosi, It is indeed built like a Chieftain tank, and one point, often missed, Paul's prices are almost ridiculously low in comparison to prices being asked for more polished but less sturdy blades in the US. I think at the time I placed my request to Paul, my total cost was under $350 US (let's say ...

Re: stats?
I'll do the best I can here. The blade is 30 inches, like my rattan swords. (this was intentional) Weight, I'd say 3 lbs. balance point: need to check it out. This thing swings BETTER than my rattan sword. I am far from an expert swordsman, but I believe the reason is the size and location of the po...

I was going to suggest Talbot, since he is a true gentleman and he's great to do business with. My Viking sword
Some time ago I started thinking about my own mortality. Maybe it is the passing of people dear to me, maybe it is some white hairs and kids growing. At any rate, after reading so much about the final fate of warriors, I realized I needed a sword, as a companion for my last boat ride, just in case t...

I am sorry, what is a pulley chinstrap? Perhaps it is the same system I use. My chincup (really a piece of leather with a slot cut in the center) is attached on each end to an individual length of appropriately colored 550 cord. One for each side. Inside of my helmets I install D rings as visible in...

Need help re-strapping a closed sallet
I was lucky enough to be able to pick up the used Waldryk salletia that was offered a while ago through Stonekeep. I am not sure he wants MY endorsement , but Michael's are awesome . Small enough to be unobtrusive, but protective in the right places. And if you ask him REALLY nicely, he can make the perfect padding for them.... I have two that I alternate and unless I go to a bevor sometime, to improve the histo...
