Re: FS: SS Viking helm with cast brass occular + Free Shield
Talking up with my friends right now and we are going to discuss about delivery. Just let me know where you want this shipped. I can add a card on your behalf if you want me to. Also, if you or any of your friends will be at Pennsic, or have friends in Northern Atlantia, I can try to have the shiel...

Re: FS: SS Viking helm with cast brass occular + Free Shield
What is the gauge of the steel? I am not sure, but I know it is very much SCA legal, as it passed several marshal inspections and it was made by one of the best known helmet makers in the SCA. This is surely a sturdy and well made helm. Measure around his head, with a measuring tape over the eyebro...

Is the set of arms on the right shorter in the vanbrace than the dimensions you posted or they are identical and just displayed differently?
Thanks!

Re: Easy, lightweight camp bed?
Griffin, All, Thank you for the suggestions, I should have added that I was hoping for something, if not period at least not overtly modern... Griffin, I have something not unlike this. Nicely made, but it IS a lot of lumber to carry around and store... Are there extant camp beds from "period&q...

Easy, lightweight camp bed?
I was yet again moving around my camp bed as I was cleaning my garage this weekend, and thought what a pain it is. Is there a camp bed that combines the simplicity and light weigh of a WWII army cot with the size to hold a foam twin mattress? (I need my sleep if I am fighting every day...) I thought...

Re: WTB pavillion
I used the Midwest pavillion for three seasons, and with proper care it should last you a long time. Indeed, the canvas is not as thick as in more expensive tents, but that makes it more manageable so you can (all by yourself) set it up, take it down and even spread the canvas to make sure it dries ...

Fighting 14th century houppelande....
There is a sculpture of St. Michael in 14th century armour, killing the dragon. He is wearing a bascinet with an aventail and a large houppelande-like garment covering his upper body. I cannot find the pic. Can anyone remember the sculpture I am referring to? What is the garment called? does anyone ...

I got a pair from Cat, here in the Archive and they are awesome. HE are excellent as well.
Also, may guys -myself included for fighting- wear horse wraps. (Standing bandages)

Which work well, and save your fancy woven ones for garb wear.

Re: FS: SS Viking helm with cast brass occular and fluted ba
That is the interesting part. You can call from medium to very large depending on padding. I have a 23.5 brow and with a pre-made commercial liner it fits snugly, but it could easily fit a larger head using blue foam padding. For people my size, I'll throw in the padded linen liner as well. Glaukos

This is a temporary pic of an almost identical helm. (The image from the website of Known World Treasures, where the helmet for sale was purchased 3 years ago) The one being offered has a fluted instead of a slat back. I will post pictures of the actual helm today or tomorrow, as soon as I have the ...
