Re: For Sale: Tod's Stuff Dagger of Alexander Balliol
I have a Arma Bohemia Ear Dagger with scabbard that I'd be willing to trade. Second dagger in attached pic (the other one is a custom A&A dagger with blued fittings):

3/4" or 3/8"? The ruler in the pix seems to indicate the latter. Where did you get the drape and rings from, btw?

Re: Early Halberd fror sale
Actually, I think this is a steal, given what you are getting. Much better in terms of quality and appearance to any GDFB or Windlass piece I've seen, and, at least judging from the picture, comparable to a good A&A piece, but for a lot less. I like the fact that he's using 1/4" stock for the blade ...

and another dagger scabbard. The wood core is 1/8" thick basswood. It's already been sanded and shelac'd in this photo. The dagger is an MRL sword hilt dagger which needs modifying. The pommels on these is huge for a dagger. So far I've removed 1/8" diameter and slightly dished the center of each s...

A decent Renassance style "strongbox" in iron, with etched/chiseled decoration and the funky locking mechanism built into the lid where the key turns several bolts that latch into the box itself. Heavy crossbows with draw-weights of 400 lbs and over that require spanning mechanisms to cock. Admitted...

Very curious about the sword. But I have no earthly idea what to make of "It looks like an old peasant's fighting weapon because it appears to be made up of bits of metal all knocked together." *ALL* swords, as a general rule, are made up of "bits of metal knocked together", so why this fact makes i...

I have a really nice dagger blade on my desk right now. Its double edged, narrow and 13 inches in the blade. The only problem is...I can't decide what style to make it into. It could make into a nice, long rondel. Or I could make it into some form of quillon pattern dagger. I don't think I can easi...

I presume you are interested in the arms and armour. If so, you want Volume II of the 3 (?) volume set that details the dig, entitled "Arms, Armour, and Regalia". Extensive information on the sword, helmet, mail, and "sceptre" found at the sight. Published in the early 70's, but ...

Actually, a good source that is more accessible of weapon and armour weights are the Wallace Collection Catalogues, Vol I & II. You can openly challenge your idiot professor to find even one sword in there that weighs 30 lbs. I swear folks like this prove that most PhDs. aren't worth the paper t...

Re: X-Post:Need Documentation Swords & Armour 1000-1300 Fast
Try the following link: http://www.thearma.org/essays/2HGS.html For swords, it explains the concept of density as to why a sword can't be 40 (or 30, or whatever) lbs. Granted, as dense as this creature is, it may not get it. Still, physics is immutable, regardless of how stupid a person is. Also, so...

Re: Original Spangen helm on ebay,,, labeled 5th Cen. Origin
Actually, Christian symbolism is fairly common on many of these helmets, IIRC. The Germans who wore them had extensive contact with Rome. My current hunch is that this is a relatively good fake, given its lack of provenance. I'd have to spend some time with Vogt's "Spangenhelme" to confirm...

BTW, I'm putting this book back up for sale. As described above it's pretty badly thrashed, but still eminently readable - the information, at least, survived the brutality of the USPS. There is no water damage, for example, so it is not a total loss. Asking $25, shipped. I'll probably try to fit it...
