I got some from interstateplastics.com last year. They do precut sheets if you're only looking for a small amount. But there's a $50 minimum or you get spanked with a large processing fee. Ditto on using ABS. Unless you're looking to do intricate forming, it's just fine. Though I'd probably go an ex...

Things for you to reflect on. The couter must be deep enough to be able to hug your elbow when it's bent. The angle formed by top and bottom edges when viewed sideways must match the angle of your bent elbow. The sides must not be as tall as the top and bottom: the couter must taper to the sides. Fl...

Supposed to be holding a libation bowl and leaning on a spear. Good to know it's not the half-eaten corn dog that initially came to mind. I find it interesting that the shoulders seem to have multiple attachment points, perhaps for different sizes? Would a linothorax be rigid enough to be able to s...

A crease must then necessarily be made down the center line. Just some advice! Cheers! Extant pieces tend not to have center creases. It's by no means necessary. Regarding your question, I think if you charge less than $50 it should be because you haven't done any finish work. Even without the fini...

Re: Lookin for a german style sallet
New to sca and i am lookin for a german style sallet Stop there, that's your first problem. I don't think "new to sca" and "sallet" belong in the same sentence, unless it's "I'm new to the sca and a guy with a German username advised that I not get a sallet". Speaking ...

I used a product called Fluid Film in the past, which was a spray-on-wipe-off-excess type of thing. It doesn't smell bad, and if you're not fighting in it it basically won't rust ever. I've used motor oil before, it's not bad but upkeep is pretty regular. I'm on paste wax now. Actually what I do is ...

14c shoulders for sale
Here's the latest completed project... 14th c inspired shoulders. CR steel 16g. Finished with my favorite "it's gonna get fought in so don't go nuts" finish. Painted inside with hammered finish rustoleum. 8" tall 7.5" wide at shoulder 3.5" deep at first lame 5.5" wide a...

OK, so I guess what I am saying is how do you take a piece of armour from its rough state to a finished state (shiny polished or satin finish)? What tools, processes, etc. do you use? Yeah, thing is, I was serious about just using the wire brush. It depends on the initial finish you're talking abou...

Yeah, I love a new file! Question: does anyone sharpen drill bits? If so, what sharpener do you use? Do the sharpeners work on the Ti and cobalt bits, or just the HSS? I don't drill if I can help it (the whitney punches are one thing that I have to use dull sometimes, but it's not as big a deal) so ...

I think the rivet work, and the flared edge on the bottom of the cheeks, are fricking awesome. I'll be honest, though: I'm not impressed with the barwork. I think it would look much cleaner if it had a bar custom fit around the outline of the cheeks. But I know that's a PITA and I wouldn't have done...

Bear in mind I'm trying to help here. Your listing is fishy. Copying the MRL description is the first thing. Tell us where it was displayed, what conditions it was in, and why you're selling it. Tell us where you are. The US is a damned big place, and shipping something like that can add up signific...

The knees are unmistakably from Iron Castle Armory. I was one of the last ones fortunate enough to have bought a pair as a new fighter in 1995. They cost $50 new, and I paid it without reservation because in marked contrast to most other available products of the time, they actually articulate well....

Ditto on the rawhide. Take an octagonal faced hammer, and rewind a dog bone (or simply buy a proper size insert) so that it's slightly bigger than the hammer face. Bend some thin sheet metal into a circle with a lip on one end (to prevent the rawhide being cut), and attach the whole thing with a hos...
