The handle is very large, that is a result of trying to compensate for the overly long portion of the hilt, so once that is cut off, that problem should sort itself out. The pommel is smaller than either one I've bought from Mandrake... I will get an actual measurement later, to see what size it act...

It's actually a steel pipe cap, just sculpted down and polished up. That's the part I'm most satisfied with. I rounded it out, and tapered in the bottom of it so there was not so much of a lip between it and the handle. That gave it a nice shape.

SCA- newly made hilt & pommel

I just made a new pommel and hilt for use in SCA rattan fighting. THey are made of steel. Finish is a bit rough, but I wasn't going too fancy... this was an experimentation/learning piece. The pipe that is the hilt attatchment will be cut shorter next time. It is too bulky. I used a pipe coupling to...

Well, the event was called "Stopping at an Inne on the Way to Canterbury." The person running the event wanted a tourney to go along with the theme, so we did the "bar fight". Tourney held in a court? There was no court... not a whole lot of royalty come out where we are. The only royalty who have v...

I just consider a blow to the leg a telling blow that ended the fight. Simple. And yes, I did this at War, and will do it in any tourney's I fight in. (though admittedly those are few)

Knattleik(er).

Best description I've found for this make it out to be something like Hurling, wich makes sense, considering their contact with the Irish.
I'd love to get people playing more games like these at events... I really feel it adds something.

"Gameball" at the Inne

This weekend was the Closing of the Inne at Coldwood here in the East. I decided to introduce people to a few period games, one of which was Gameball. It is a soccer/football/rugby-ish sort of game... there are two teams, two goals, and a ball. The rules are, bet the ball into the goal. Thats pretty...

Actually, yes, I have marshalled multiple Pennsics. My point was not that marshalls do not get hit, but they are not allowed to be deliberatly struck. While I, in conttrast, love combat archers, I am against non-contact archers. Sorry, but I can't support that. If youre going to be on the field during combat, you should be prepared to be struck. (marshalls excluded, of course  )

Actually, in an older version of the rules, a maille skirt was specifically mentioned as legal groin armour.

So... nobody's mentioned the thrown weapons rules much... thoughts there? Thoughts not involving "we shouldn't have them"?

I made mine with just a jig saw... took a bit longer, but worked fine, just get a decent blade.

Mine are set up with two straps. Works great... one is at the top of the calf, the other near the ankle. Doesn't shift or bind. My leg wraps and trousers give all the protection I need under them.

The chain on the thor's hammer and the small one lying next to it are wire weaving... those are silver and gold, respectively. I'll try to get close up pictures later. The arm rings just slide on up over the bicep, fitting snugly.

Viking Bling

Here's pics of a couple of my latest projects... jewelry for my viking persona. Arm rings, and wire woven chain for my Thor's hammer. Arm rings are copper with silver trim. I know the vikings didn't use a lot of copper, but it was what I had, and it looks pretty good.
