Oh , and these will be for sale, not sure of a price yet, but I'm just as happy to teach someone to make them as sell them... possibly more so. These can be made by pretty much anybody. I need to actually do a photo essay when I make one of these.

What you prolly found was the thinner stuff... ask them if they have thicker sheets for shaping. What I get is 3" thick, and comes in a skeet thats around 2' x 4'. A bit pricey, but it goes a long way. It can be shaped with a small rasp, but I have been using a wire wheel in a drill press with great...

Seems to me they might be an archiver.
Were they in a coat of plates, great helm with crest (a dragon, maybe...)
I seem to remember a post recently involving this mace/person

the usual... kayak foam. It's what I make most of my weapons heads out of. I've made a few... hammers, maces... i'm particularly fond of aves. I've got a nice Danish axe that is my primary weapon now. Many of them I face with rattan for a clacker, but some... like these... it does not work for.

SCA mace and hammer progress pics

New mace and hammer for SCA combat nearing completion... here's a couple pics. Heads will be tool dipped... there will be rounded tips, probably rubber, on the spikes of the mace and back spike of the hammer, and a leather face on the hammer part. I wish i had something more rigid for the spike face...

I'm in your weight class, and I wear 23 lbs of maille, plus lamellar, gambeson, helmet, etc... 50lbs or so, and I have went in the neighborhood of 12 hours in it before. Use a belt, that will help. gambeson or thick tunic will help as well. All that said, if it is hurting too much, stop. You may hav...

Fighting while carrying a slung shield for protection can be documented, at least for some periods. One of the huscarles at least, in the Bayeux tapestry is wielding his axe while the shield on his back is peppered with arrows. I agree with not playing to the lowest common denominator. Make them pla...

So if he holds a weapon in the shield hand, it becomes armour? what if I'm holding a javelin or backup weapon in that hand? What if I grab my opponent's weapon? Don't lump all us little guys in the fragile group... I am one of the smallest, in the low 100's, and I love the physical stuff. Charge me, bump me, whatever, I'm down. Just don't complain when I do it back.

I really don't care about selling it... you can HAVE it as long as we can figure out a reasonable way to ship it. Like I said in the other thread, it's just living under my couch, if it goes to someone who will appreciate it, I'm happy.

Hearing from him why he bounced it would be good, and passing his name on to his superior if it was for some half assed incompetant reason. If you don't know the rules, you should not be responsible for policing their enforcement.

Good point there... I wasn't thinking about trapping against the body... I avoid that, largely because I've been knocked pizzling upward as a result. I do tend to grab hafts and handles quite a bit, and have no problem with my opponent getting a bit physical at that point... And so people don't thin...
