It worked great through three years of semi-pro football. I don't wear it for fighting though.
I wear it now as undershirts... feels great for every day wear.

My only two suggestions from what I can see-
1. Get a curved wooden heater with leather straps... no shield basket.
2. ditch the basket hilt, go with cast quillons+pommel

Love the helm with aventail. You look good.

If it hits my scabbard, I take it. That way, I can't be accused of blowing off shots. I do not mean things like a spear thrust catching it on the way by... I mean shots being swung at my leg and connecting with the scabbard. By the way, I am not able to make scabbards for money. I am not comfortable...

Good to know I'm a misinformed idiot Josh. If you hadn't told me, I'd have gone the rest of my life thinking I was a fairly with-it safety inspector, doing my best to fairly enforce the spirit of the law. I agree that Palymars decision with Bascot was wrong. I agree that your marshall needed to have...

Kniggit, a lot is going to depend on how much you weigh, particularly what fraction of that is muscle. Li'l weedy guys should probably try and keep it around forty-plus pounds for SCA fi...

I'm carrying 50 to 60, depending on what I'm fighting with...
23 pound riveted maille
8 pounds lamellar
8-9 pound helm
gambeson
greaves
gambesoned cuisses
clothing and other bits
brings me to about 50...

add 8 pound shield plus weapon... 60 pounds.

Order of the Tygers Combattant

This weekend at Winter War 8, our very own Lord Ian MacDonald got inducted into the Order of the Tygers Combattant! Vivat to a very deserving new inductee into this order.

A bit over 2". I order from HH Perkins, and when I get that, I tell them to pick out the biggest "log" they can find. They are VERY nice there.

I sold the gladius... next one will be better.
