Mu problem was with the pommel. I kept shearing lag bolts when I used them, and when I made a taping fork, the damn thing kept spinning around on the rivit. I finally shoe-gooe'd it... hoping that will hold, but still remove easily. As for the guard, I drilled through it and riveted through the ratt...

Vitus... Not to hijack the thread, but I've been changing my fighting to accept leg shots as kills. I am finding it hard... not that I mind being bested by a blow to the leg, but my brain is programmed to drop me to my knees when hit in the leg. Have you considered doiing this? (hosestly, I though I...

Badgers Den sells the same ones as Mandrake... maybe a resaler, I don't know. If you get a pommel from Mandrake (wich I recommend highly) get the taping fork to go with it. Anshelm armouries also sell them, as well as Iron Monger. There used to be another... Otters Den, I think it was, but I don't k...

m There's one place to get it... the one you posted would work, but htis is more versatile... split right down the middle, and it is 1 1/2" thick... perfect for weapons heads. Cut to rough shape with a saw, use rasp and sandpaper to finish. I have finished the handle of the gladius a bit more... add...

Dunno what it might be called otherwise... do a search on Froogle for kayak foam... theres a few varieties, some pre shaped for carrying kayaks and canoes on cars, some pre shaped for seats/liners, and some in uncut blocks or sheets. Any outdoor store that carries kayak stuff should either have the ...

Like Chris said, the foam is Kayak foam, and it holds up pretty well... I haven't had one break down yet, so I can't say how long they last. I've been using the stuff for a few years now though... I'll try to get a pic of the back of the scabbard up... It actually just has belt loops... I played wih...

(SCA)weapons I've made recently- Mace, Viking Sword, Gladius
Weapons I have made for SCA combat recently. Flanged mace, viking sword with Mandrake pommel and hilt, and a gladius. m m m m m m The gladius was made tonight from 2" rattan, shaped down, stained, taped... I still want to add a bit of shiney to the pommel... maybe a little brass bit on the end, and ...
