OK, I'm looking for someone who can do a translation of a couple of phrases into old norse. I'm commissioning a blade, and want a runic inscription on it. Anybody game? I need the translation to old norse, not the runes...

All my weapons have a steel counterpart, my seax included. I use the steel one to limb trees and split wood. I have some faith it would perform admirably against a person.

I don't really have problems with my seax hitting with authority... but I really consider that a shortsword. It's everybody else who keeps calling it a dagger. ;)

My first fighting kit cost under $100, complete with helmet. My first paintball marker alone cost that. I then quickly realized that where paintball got expensive was paint.

Nope. I just won't fight against it. People can play with it all they want... but few do. Heavy rapier looks and feels better.

I refuse to fight light rapier. Will not pick one up... if my opponent in a tourney will only fight light, I will forfeit.

Here's my fencing kit... I use the widest blade I could get with Norse fittings. My "buckler" is a small center grip round, parry devices are seax, axe, or spear. I'm planning to add maille (to replace the fencing jacket underneath) and get a helmet with perf plate face to replace the fenc...

I do both. I did every war point battle with the exception of Champions battles at Pennsic last year, and will again. Our Royalty did as well...

I think I got mine through the Green Boat Stuff website... not positive though. I get spray lanolin, sold as a marine lubricant. I have used the spreadable stuff... it's a bit more maintenance intensive.

I use lanolin as a prevention method. When I do get rust, I use a green scrub pad and a bit of lanolin to clean it up.

People were using planed rattan way before that. I've been using shaped sticks since around 2000... albeit not the wasters like Baron Eric is doing.
