Wrong. You specifically CAN build a 2" thrusting tip for a fiberglass spear in your garage. It is, however, still considered an experimental weapon for the foreseeable future. From the SEM's message: Homemade 2" x 2" tips are still considered experimental and must follow the guideline...

I'll toss up some pictures ASAP... I'm still a bit burnt and really need to crash.

Thanks everyone who made it out... even thought he weather kept a good number of people from making it, we still had a good turnout, and everyone seemed to have a good time.

I spend half of Pennsic in my mundane footwear... but in my case, that's barefoot. Also, gel insoles are great inside turnshoes. They add a little bit of shock absorption, and a little bit of cushioning. +1 Bah! Callouses are more authentic (oddly my turnshoes never give me blisters...) -Derian. ins...

I have never marshaled Estrella, but I have put in a pretty solid amount of time in marshaling Pennsic. When a marshal tells you to unass an area of the field, it is generally because they have been told by Marshal 1 to get people off the field. Even if there's no archery, things move fast. It can g...

You can: 4. An effective blow to the leg above the knee will disable the leg. The fighter must then fight kneeling, sitting, or standing on the foot of the uninjured leg. I take legs as fight enders. I say good, salute, and that's it. I don't tell people before... they then tend to avoid the legs, w...

It is work and gear... but this is not an off the rack tournament. We are holding ourselves to a higher standard, we should expect this and plan accordingly. Having the gear and putting in the work is part of the fun of it.

While our armor is intended to reduce the trauma of impact, our weapon construction and safety features are intended to reduce the impact...

They've been legal as experimental weapons for like two years now... they still have that status till March. After that, only homemade tips remain experimental. (at least here in the East)
