You won't... because it is allowed. At Pennsic, it's forbidden, but split rattan is allowed. Olaf I could not find the SCA wide rule that *prohibits* laminated weapons - either single handed or two handed. "Lamination" is defined... and in the "unpadded pole" section it's clear t...

From the SCA rules of the List:
Laminated rattan: Two pieces of rattan, each being at least 1¼ inch (31.8mm) in diameter, attached to one another with a short overlap by tape or other method of binding. Maximum length of the overlap shall be 18â€

I just don't get why... I mean, I've technically got no dog in the fight... mine are either padded (axes) or split (hewing spear).
But I have had people try and bounce both in the past because they couldn't understand they were not laminated...

Agreed. I fight with a safeflex blade, and will forfeit any bout that my opponent insists on an epee. On the Epee's? The sooner we get rid of epee and continue to move to things that more resemble real rapiers instead of whippy car antennas, the better. Then those arguments go away. Richard Blackmoo...

Except for Pennsic specific conventions (like the "no laminated weapons" rule of this year) weapons must meet the standards of the Middle or East Kingdoms. The By My Hand heads pass without padding now in the East, so you're OK.

Just got a new armour box, made by the Archive's own Christophe de Frisselle. It's based on the Mastermyr chest. Now I need to get a norse lock for it!
