Not in the East. Pommel strikes are kills to the face only, as of the latest conventions of combat. leather-cap the pommel too... strike with EVERY part of the weapon! That is a slippery slope as currently the SCA does not distinguish between a "butt spike" and a "pommel strike"....

Meh. I cut ALOT fighting steel. It was commented when I first went to qualify that I should thrust more.

As someone who doesn't like knee fighting and doesn't do it... this. Don't do it if you don't want to. Some brass rod and sheet brass. They're super easy to make.

I feel like I should have blocked... I was raised in the don't stop till the fight is over school. I keep blocking after I've taken a telling blow as good too... How do people feel about that "vertical snap to the faceplate" move someone throws while dropping to their knees, cause you back...

Boar spear

I rarely fight barefoot... but am comfortable doing so. Turnshoes are not much different... a thin layer of leather. When barefoot, you simply have a LOT better awareness of where your feet are.

Kayak foam is technically called minicell foam. I get mine at a local outdoor shop where they sell kayak gear. It can be used to sculpt seats, leg braces, etc. in kayaks.
