I'll never forget showing up at a Household event in Texas... we armored up and walked down to where they were doing armor inspection. When we asked to get inspected we were told:

"Hell, you guys got enough armor on for THREE Ansteorrans, go have fun"

Biggest problem I would have is finding a two week chunk of time that I can stand being without my helmet!

Could you do this over Thanksgiving or the Christmas/New Years timeframe?? :) :)

Forth Armoury rocks.. I love the chainmail I bought from him.

My only complaint was the same as yours, they cant seem to make that stuff fast enough. I've never had to sit on that much money for that long before.. (actually, never been ABLE to before).

Sorry, but it does seem a bit excessive... Lamellar was the best armor I have ever worn for SCA combat. I actually had a hard time feeling most body shots in mine.

Anyways, wasnt tryin to give ya a hassle or anything.. Nice armor by the way, looks like you put alot of time into it.

God.. I remember my first year of fighting, when a good fighter practice meant I couldn't get out of bed the next morning. I'd have to kind of roll out and try to land on my feet, balancing with one hand on the desk.. If you start out with a 24 inch side-strapped round, wear good leg armour. Now th...

If you want to fight:

Bring your own cup. Most people dont loan theirs out, and most people dont like borrowing them.

Money spent on a good cup is never wasted.

I particularly liked it when the Midgard Serpent tripped over a railroad tie and we dogpiled it I have been to a number of events on that site, and they are always non-SCA events.. I really do enjoy playing the SCA's game without all the SCA red tape (no marshalls, no arm...

One more thing that really helps: Keep your helmet out of the sun whenever possible. I always cover my helmet with my shield when its not on my head. Nothing worse then sitting in the shade and sipping water and then throwing a 100+ degree piece of metal onto your head right before you go fight. Als...

The reason we want to make swords and not other weapons is because swords are infinitely cooler then any other weapon made prior to the Colt .45.
