For the price, their stuff is well made and protective. The people I know that bought from them said that they filled the orders quickly.

Not a bad choice for inexpensive armor.

I have also heard of this being done in An Tir.. altho I believe they also did it with a restricted fighting area (and being shoved out still made you die)

Its SUPPOSED to be done on a piece of ice in the middle of the ocean.. or at least thats what I was told hahaha

Well.. its basically whatever the person running it thinks it is http://www.armourarchive.org/ubb/smile.gif Typically, in An Tir, Homgangs usually have a restricted fighting area (9' square area), if you step or are forced outside the area then you lose. Its supposed to be based off a Norse tourname...

I handled a pair of these, and I wouldnt want to fight in them. As already stated, they are REALLY heavy, and they didnt fit my hands horribly well.

They did appear to be safe, assuming they fit.. and they dont look horrible. Still, for the price I would think you could better.

I would say Yes, use both (strapping tape and either leather, webbing or even the silk thing that Sarnac mentioned). I have made tips with just one or the other (just strapping tape, just webbing and duct tape etc...) and they never seem to last. Then again, I use shorter swords then most and seem t...

4-5 oz leather should work.

Ive used both, if you hit a lot of tip shots, whatever you use will eventually break. Lots of strapping tape ran length wise over the tip (along the striking edge of the sword, over the tip to the back edge) helps alot too.

Where in Oregon?

I've lived in the Portland area for almost 8 years now and have never heard the name before.

To the best of my knowledge, if he's an SCA armourer he either just moved to the Kingdom or he changed his name.

So, yeah, a great helm would be perfect. Image
