Re: The cluture of no arm hunting

If it's open and a legal target, I hit it. Some parts I may hit a bit lighter than others but if someone is leading with their crotch I'll let them know (gently) that was a mistake as well. I consider hitting arms to be no different than hitting legs. I had a student once who had a devistating arm s...

Re: Gulf Wars XX Photos

Did you, or anyone, happen to get any pics of me proposing to my lady at the Champion's Battle on Thursday?
I REALLY should have warned the photographer in my camp about that because I haven't seen anything.

Re: Gulf Wars - Bad Experiences?

I don't think I'm much of a pansy who cries at every excessive shot. But I do admit to being a bit annoyed at getting hit so hard with a spear shot to the face that it blew out the rivets on my chinstrap and drove my helmet into my left eyebrow so hard it swelled up. I wasn't charging, ducking or do...

Re: What are you training for?

I train for a variety of reasons. First and foremost is that I used to be pretty good and I've slipped lately. I want to gain the respect of the other fighters out there by using a smaller shield and being good with it again. After years of being one of the top 5 fighters and now some won't even put...

Results of my Gulf War Boast

Unfortunately I was pretty busy at GW, as I usually am. But I did try to get the word out to as many people as possible about my oath to fight a Champion from each kingdom allied with Trimaris as well as to be the first Ansteorran to hit the Trimarian line in the Open Field Battle. I fought Nissan, ...

Thanks. I did email them and they promptly responded saying the helm was on the truck. So, even if I don't get that one if I like it I can get one in the future as well. I'm thinking of getting this because I'm moving my time period back about 50 years to Agincourt and the sugarloaf is not as common...

Will Windrose be at Gulf Wars?

Just wondering if Windrose Armory is planning on being at Gulf Wars.
I was hoping you might bring the visored sugarloaf helm you have advertized. I'm thinking of getting it and would like to check it out.

I HATE fighting when I know there are a lot of people rooting for me. I was in a list and got faked out of my shorts and got killed. The crowd cheered and I as kind of upset until someone told me the guy I fought was terrified of me and everyone expected him to get smoked. I might be interested in the gauntlets. I borrowed a pair that you made for Druinne at Gulf Wars and they were the nicest gauntlets I'd ever worn and fit perfectly in my shield.

Not sure of the size but Druinne's fit me well.

Not only was Inman a spear god in melee or against other spears, he also won our second most important tournament with just a spear and little dangle mace. Just an example of what goes on. On Friday night the camps of the Barony of the Steppes and Barony of Elfsea got together, took all of the leftovers in one big meal and served anyone who walked by. I think a case can be made for wearing an outer tunic over the mail prior to the Crusades. Mail is expensive and in an environment of salt and wet it would protect it from the elements. Also, I think having a layer between the mail and the cold outside air would be desired. I'm slowly getting a kit ...

I definately have no complaints about lamellar in the SCA context. I agee that it looks very nice, adds nice "flavor" to an early period kit and is a hell of a lot better than most stuff we see. I was just wondering if I made an early Norse kit whether it would be authentic or not. Interes...

Did Vikings wear lamellar?

I see that lamellar has become extremely popular with the early period crowd and for good reason. It's good protection, looks good and available from a lot of sources. But I wonder if it is authentic for a lot of the Western kits out there? I see a lot of Viking types wearing the new lamellar but fr...
