CLANG review
I ordered a 48 oz leather bottle with carrying strap from CLANG a bit ago. I'd asked for it to be delivered before Gulf Wars if possible and he shipped it so it would reach me before the promised date. Although I didn't get it by Gulf Was was no fault of his but instead me having problems with PayPa...

To the fighters at Gulf Wars
To those Allied with Ansteorra: Thank you. You fought damned hard, partied harder and always had chivalry at the forefront. To those Allied against Ansteorra: Thank you. You fought damned hard, partied harder and always had chivalry at the forefront. You both gave great honor to my glorious kingdom,...

Out of curiosity, who here wants to get so good their name gets mentioned on these lists? Who thinks it's an achievable goal before they start to get too old or out of shape? That's me. I say that someday I want to be a duke. Right now I'm just a guy who won two Crowns. A duke in my mind is that gu...

Drake is definitely semi-retired right now... Mahidi has also not been extremely active as far as *I've* seen, but sometimes with a kingdom the size of Ansteorra, two people can be active simlutaneously and yet still not see each other at events for months. I don't think you'll see either of them a...

So from what I gather is if I'm judging a piece of armor and it is in spring steel I should not count off points because of it being a non-period material? But if the armor is in stainless spring steel then there could be a little deduction? There also wouldn't be a huge deduction of points even if ...

Stainless Spring Steel Period?
This past weekend I was called upon to judge an entry in a baronial A&S. The entry was for a lovely pair of sabatons made from stainless spring steel. The articulation and general design of the armor was gorgeous. But one thing I did ding the entry on was the use of non-period materials. Now whe...

It will be held again this April, 24 - 26 in Austin, TX. They may not have one next year because of the huge amount of work involved so it may be an every other year event. Another cool thing is the site owner (Richard Garriott aka Don Shamino aka Lord British aka That kooky millionaire who went up ...

Cool video of Lysts of Castleton
A gorgeous site and some not commonly found aspects of SCA combat such as equestrian melee and jousting as well as barrier fights and other fun stuff. It's short but a nice vid and hopefully encouragement for you guys to come visit.

And for those of us going what are some of the to-do's other than the basic fighting, classes, and such. And what are some of teh things such as the green dragon? Gulf Wars is kind of a mini-Pennsic so the stuff you do at Pennsic you do at Gulf. There are some pretty good sized parties. I know that...

Where to get red/white belts?
I've discovered that it is rather difficult to get either red or white belts from many merchants. Strangely, enough, many of the merchants who sell belt accessories only offer the usual brown, black or undyed belts.
Any suggestions? I'm wanting to make a nice 14th C. belt for my squire.

It is driving me crazy in that I can't find my confirmation email. I've paid for a corrizon and have the bank statement so we'll see what happens. I have sent an email and hope we can work something out. I would prefer to get the armor I have ordered instead of a reimbursement because I understand h...

Gunthar, I would have to make a tall, round bottle for you. Would probably take a month or so. I can make a leather shoulder strap for any of these for an extra $8. Yeah, I'll take a 48 oz tall bottle with carrying strap. It seems like the perfect thing for carrying into battle and trying to avoid ...

Is the Tuesday night practice an open practice? If so, where is it located and what time? Yes, it is open to everyone although it is usually just my squire, the knight marshal and me. We'd love for more people to show up. It is in Tietse Park by downtown Dallas and usually starts around 7:00 - 7:30...

Results of Ansteorran Crown
Sir Hrafn Olafsson, fighting for Ly Elizabeta di Valore della Rosa, defeated Duke Miguel Sebastian de Oporto in three bouts to become our Heirs. It was a very chilly day, rather the opposite of the 105 degree weather of the last Crown, and all fighters fought with honor, skill and grace. The semi-Fi...

We highly recommend Crown participants to pre-register for the lists at a page on the Kingdom Seneschal's website. This way membership and such can be checked before the event. It is recommended that all entrants and consorts be members, have held an office for a year and have at least a year of res...
