Yep, I had the same thing happen, didn't insure and it never disappeared. I had to eat the loss. I never pass up on insuring an item now.
That being said, I'd think if the armourer was a giving fella he might cut you a decent dealt on a new helm being that you've already purchased two from him.

I understand that they are made to work with the flow of the calf but does its deisgn specifically keep them from sliding down and resting all of its weight on the top of the ankle/foot?
