Is there someone I can bounce ideas off of in an attempt to finish my kit? I'd rather do it via PM than bother everyone here.

WTB - poleyns (knees/elbow) w/ rondels and besegews

Yep, it is as it says; I'm looking to buy a pair of poleyns (knees and elbow) with rondels and besegews for SCA heavy combat.
I'd prefer stainless (dull), as Florida's humidity is terrible to mild steel.

Thanks!

Thanks for all the responses, folks.

Anyone ever tried any of the medieval recipes or added ingredients to their own modern brewed (or storebought) wines for reenactments/events?

Wine in the Middle Ages

I've heard that wine in the Middle Ages throughout central Europe was mixed with water. Okay, understandable from a health standpoint. But do we know what parts the mixture was? Do we know what type of wine was prominant in that timeframe? I realize this is a broad-based question but my weak search-...

WTB - Sallet with bevor - SCA heavy

Anyone got a sallet with bevor they're looking to part with? Preferably mild and should fit a 23 1/4 head? Either that or anyone want to make one? Trying not to break the bank -- $400 would be nice.

Thanks.

Allow me to clarify a bit; I'm not talking about a ankle-length cape but I have seen certain folks with shorter versions and I was wondering how it affected their ability to fight.

(SCA heavy) Fighting with a cape?

Now, I'm not talking about it ala rapier and using it off-hand, mind you, but wearing one while you fight heavy. Does it impede amnything? Make it harder to call blows? If you wear one, why so? Aesthetics? Clue me in, as I've been thinking about adding one to my kit.

Leather (possiby shovel-style) leg greaves?

I'm looking to make leather leg graves, possibly shovel-style type but I'm not sure yet.
I was thinking 10-12oz veg tan. I'm thinking that's still relatively tool-able?

Anyone have experience with making them?
Any patterns recommended?
