Agreed. I went with wide leather and then laced lamellar to the top of that, getting a best of both looks. Will post pics when I get a chance.

Tim, I know this is an older thread, but are you thinking about producing another run of hooks? If so, could you PM me a price?

Much thanks.

Need hand axe

Looking for a hand axe. Something functional that could pass as 'medieval-esque', lol. I've heard of people buying ones on Civil War sites; is that an option, appearance-wise?

Any websites that I should be frequenting?

Anyone have something similar?

Thanks in advance.

Post One Photo of Your Soft Kit

Well, it worked very well for the armour, so why don't we do it for the soft kit. I think that if the newer people had a chance to see a nice soft kit, it would be in inspiration for them to work towards. I know it would give me a bit of a kick in the behind, and I already have several soft kits alt...

Yep, I have to admit, I can overlook a pair of glasses (especially if they're small and wire-rimmed) but the glaring contrast in footwear is what kills me. Granted, I'm partially guilty of this, as I wear black moccasin boots with wraps around them from ankle to knee, but at least it's a slight bett...

Splinted greaves?

My bazubands are definitely unacceptable for my Romano-Brit kit, so I was thinking of making a pair of splinted greaves and hidden elbows, but I need to nail down the time frame they appeared.

About what time period did splinted greaves appear within a European context?

Yep, subject pretty much sums it up; I'd like to see anyones lamellar kit. I'm on my third incarnation of my own lamellar, as; -First try was a vest fashioned from a persons design here on the archive; too big a plate, not flexible enough for my liking. -Second was a vest fashioned from White Mounta...

Brass details on helm

I was perusing the Kingdom of the West's website and I came across this picture of Duke (?) Alden in his helm: <img src="http://www.photodump.com/direct/zenxistence/OC109.jpg"> I'm a total sucker for such brass-work. What gauges would be used? Excellent work, Eyvandr, always loved the classical Greek helm with adornment.

What do you call the crest on Thorfinn's helm? What period/persona? Did you use a metal base covered by leather or something to that effect?

I have to admit, I've just switched over to hilt and pommel with mitten gauntlets and the lack of control is somewhat unnerving.
