13th century Irishman?
I'm curious what type of armour/garb a mid-to-late 13th century Irishman would wear?
Are there any good historical examples of said persona?

This one was me. At a practise in Hawaii a long time ago (must have been 91 ish or so) I had a miserable time. Got hit at will by pretty much everyone and couldn't land anything. No one was a jerk and if I asked for help I got it. The next week the son of one of our regular fighters suited up. It w...

Sir Sarnac, wouldn't the price of having your current lamellar treated and then re-powdercoated, cost near the price of say, a new stainless set of lamellar from WMA or GAA -- or were you saying that those weren't the correct shape needed? Or is the stainless the issue? Adam sent me enough for a ves...

This will be of no help to anyone whatsoever, but ..... wow. I can honestly say I never would have thought Gundo to be one of 'those' types of armourers.

I bought a a pair of half-gaunts from Uilleag. Great communication, quick delivery time, great product; I highly recommend he and GAA Armouries both.

I wonder ...
If memory serves, isn't Ironmongermisc the individual that for many years fraudulently portrayed a pelican or laurel (I forget which) here in my fair kingdom of Trimaris a while back, purportedly doing so to write a book on the mysterious 'inner-workings' of SCA royalty? If this is indeed the same f...

Don't mean to threadjack, but: m To take all the time with lacing and design of this type of armour (which I am not partial to but do know the time involved in lacing it) and then to wear butt-ugly hockey gloves without any attempt whatsoever to cover the company logos, I mean I just don't get it. A...

Wanted - Greathelm
Anyone have a greathelm (preferred) or sugarloaf for sale?
The cheaper the better, as it doesn't have to be pretty -- I'm thinking of powdercoating it locally.
I have a 23 1/2 head, just so ya know.
EDIT -- For SCA heavy combat use, please.

Here's another vote for, "If it's done well, more power to you." We can huff and puff all we want about the wording of the rules but the obvious atmosphere remains that there are some of us that will follow the rules to the letter of the law, those of us that will dance around the letter of the law,...

Fort used for Heavy battles at Pennsic?
Greetings all,
I'm not looking to start a general panic or anything, so apologies in advance if I have been misinformed, but rumor has it that the fort will NOT be used for Heavy Battles this year.
Is there any validity to this rumor?

More plates!
Here's a note on the lamellar vest I just added on my ebay description: After digging through the garage it seems that I have located approximately 100 more plates! Now to give you an idea, the vest as seen only took me 110 plates to make, so you can literally double it's size, if need be! Although ...

Lamellar vest/spangen helm for sale
Hey guys, have my helmet and my old lamellar for sale on Ebay, to fund my Pennsic trip. Decided to drive my car into a Mercedes AND a Lexus SUV ... sigh ... so due to that I don't have much in the way of funds for the War. If one of you archivers want to purchase either, I'll end the auction and sel...

Here's a major thumbs up for Adams lamellar, was a dream to work with, looks great and protects damn well. I'm 5'11, 160, waist 34" and it took 262 plates to do a waist-length vest. I used 50 yards of 4mm Maxi-cord, with maybe 2 yards left when I was finished. Lacing took approximately 5 hours. I'll...
