Sorry, buddy. I have a long, narrow head, it makes helm shopping problematic.

Re: Helm Fit / Injuries?
As someone who works in orthopedics and trauma you'd think that that might have occurred to me, but, nope, never did. Thanks for the insight, Sean. Coming to this late but it strikes me you have a different problem to consider. If your helm is that tight getting on and off then it will be that tight...

FS - Klappvisor Bascinet
This is a 14-gauge mild steel bascinet that'll fit a 22-24 inch head. It comes pre-drilled with vervelle holes but no vervelles or aventail, sorry, those are going on my new helm. I have restrapped the visor and widened the eyeslots a bit, as seen in the first picture, in compasrison to the original...

Helm Fit / Injuries?
As I refine my harness for BOTN/HMB styled combat I’ve begun to rethink my helm, especially in recent light of Duke Felix’s concussions. I have a period linen liner for my 12-gauge mild bascinet, but with it in the helm it’s almost painfully snug when attempting to don the helmet. When it is finally...

Re: Coat of Plates backing -- how's this?
Sorry, yes I of course meant the covering.
Now should I go for oil tanned or chrome-tanned leather? I thought I remember hearing that oil-tanned is given to stretching more than chrome-tanned.
I gues I could do canvas, just assumed that leather would last longer.

Coat of Plates backing -- how's this?
Just received my plates in the mail and now I'm trying to decide what to use for backing. I'm looking at 5-6oz, this: http://springfieldleather.com/32800/Side%2COil-Tanned%2CAsst/ Would this work well? Also, square footage; what am I looking for? I'm 5-9" 150, not a big fella, if that helps with a g...

I've suffered two concussions in the past three years and five total lifetime, so I'm heavily interested in this thread. Tinnitus, loss of short term memory, inability to focus, irritability when forced to multi-task, anxiety -- all things I never had (to the degree I do now, at least) after my last...

I was thinking more like 3/4"-wide, 6"-8" strips for vambraces myself. No need for shiny, dull is preferred. Holes already drilled would be nice but not a deal breaker. I see the McMaster-Carr strips but it sounds like they're sold coiled. I have no experience with working metal -- would would strai...
