Re: Klappvisored bascinet and hounskull bascinet
I believe the 2 terms you chose are basically the same thing. A Klapvisor is the visor that has one centeral hinge above the forehead to raise and lower the visor. A Hounskull is the no nose, slightly rounded visor that has a central hinge. A Pigface has the pointed snout that is a side hinged viso...

Hounskull bascinet and pigface bascinet
For those of you that have fought with both, or even extensively in one style or the other, which type of helm gives you better visibility? Which one can you breathe better with? What are your overall opinions on both? I'm looking to add a hounskull bascinet to my armor selection for the COTT, so I'...

Great stuff, almost makes me feel like I was there again. I hated to miss Pennsic this year but after fighting in last years COTT, this is what I missed the most about not attending.

And I'm assuming these are paying SCA members so now lets throw all the folks with non-memberships into the mix. That would be a substantial numbers difference I'm thinking. Looking for two pair of shoulder cops for a verrrry skinny 9 and 11 year old. My ladys boys want "shoulder armour" and me, being the surprise guy that I am, would like to procure this for them. Mild, stainless, aluminum, whatever -- as long as I can find two pairs. Just think; you'll have ...

Re: Combat of the 30 - Declaration of Sides
I do not see myself making it to Pennsic this year. I move from Tampa to St Louis the 5th, which wouldn't give me enough time to make it to the Thirty.
This breaks my heart.
It's POSSIBLE I'll make it later in War Week but I'm not holding my breath.

I just received my 14h century elbows with rerebraces from Stonekeep and I was wondering how many of you have your vambraces riveted directly to the elbows and how many just point the two items separately to your gambeson? Which way is more documentable? Also, anyone notice a difference in flexibili...

14th century mugs?
I saw that Alric of Drentha has mugs/jugs for sale but he isn't taking custom orders. With that said, I bought a basic 14th century mug at Gulf Wars a few years back and loved it but I decided to drop my helm on it one day, due to boredom apparently, and the mug is no more. Who else makes 14th centu...

Lucian, It is my belief that if you let your spear get grabbed by an opposing combatant and you tussle over it, it is your fault for not letting go. You placed your spear in harms way and your noble opponent has grabbed it legally to attempt to deny you the weapon, your reluctance to not let your n...

Re: [SCA] Is deliberate spear breaking legal?
In a case like that how would anyone know if the breakage was intentional or not? Hit it with a weapon and it breaks? I'm pretty okay with that. Disappointed my spear broke but thrilled to lose it in a great combat. Yank my spear and bend it around a wall in an attempt to break it? I'll be pissed. ...
