Also, while we're at it, what are some ballpark dimensions for longswords? I always just assumed they were roughly 36"-40" single-handed swords but I suspect I'm probably ignorant.

Maille skirt questions

I believe that the maille skirt was more common in the 15th century as a stand alone piece of armour but what about in the 14th century, specifically English or German? Were they incorporated then? Worn under or over the gambeson? Anyone have any extant pictures/effigies depicting one? How do you we...

I was lucky enough to meet and speak with Lord Bleddyn at Pennsic this year and I'll say this; while the Couter may inspire feats of chivalric virtue, Bleddyn himself inspires as much, if not more so, than the actual item.

Frank, what find of filler are we talking? I was in on the unpadded gambeson order from Westland and they were a pretty huge hit with all that I talked to that purchased them. "Unpadded" in a misnomer as they have 5-6 layers of fabric but they they have a great weight and are holding up we...

Spring steel and rust

I was curious how spring steel stands up to rust? Does it fare better than mild? Similar to stainless?
I'm in Florida, so my concern over rust is pretty significant.
I tried to do a search but it looks the the Archive engine is down (I keep getting a HTTP Inernal Server Error).
