From the spearfighter's point of view, I admit I do find myself treated very well by my allies in melee. I usually get a shieldman assigned to me whose entire job is just to block for me or intercept anyone who rushes me. A couple times, I've had two bodyguards, which was really cool because I could...

I've seen it both ways now. When I lived in Meridies, there was a single authorization that allowed you to fight with any chivalric weapons (no idea about CA) Since there is such a HUGE difference in being able to fight and compete safely and effectively with sword and shield, as opposed to, say, fi...

My initial reaction to the 2" thrusting tips is 'COOL!' I'll pick one up at GW and give it a try there. On the one hand, it seems like it'll be even easier to decimate a shield wall with a smaller-profile tip, then again, the larger tip has advantages too. I'll initially lower the force output ...

I dare you to try and thrust each other without foam on your sword and see what you think. It can be done safely and learned by almost anyone. Greetings Sir Falcone, Count me in. I got my Ebonwoulfe cup hilt just a few days ago. Taking on guys with huge shields with your greatsword is tricky but it can be done. You need to develop exceptional lateral footwork and be able to step offline and strike in sync. Also, develop exceptional feints to move that big shield out of the way. Example: dude with war door charges, the gleam...

Also at backyard fighter practices we've done crazy stuff mixing in grappling and had a hell of a lot of fun. We gotta do this when it warms up and the ground dries out a bit. Sounds like a plan bro! Greatsword v. greatsword or swords and bucklers are my favorite forms for 'anything goes' fighting!
