I'm not too worried about a bow/crossbow when it's not drawn or spanned. I can appreciate the concern that the bow will be destroyed, but I think we can all pretty much agree to "not whack the bow". I don't mind if the archer slings it on his back or holsters it; I think the disadvantage t...

your best bet is to contact your minister of the lists and get a copy of your old card there if it's still good. Not much chance of authorizing at pennsic I'm afraid. one if the involved kingdom earl marshals on here may have more help....

Ok, I went and downloaded the antir book of combat when I read Gorms reply just to make sure I wasn't off base... It helps if you get the current edition. No more light archers, which is good. No more wooden shafts, which is good, still have fiberglass shafts, which is bad in my opinion. It's not cl...

(caveat, your Kingdom may have non-standard rules, I'm referring here to SCA standard) Actually, since the last rules revision roughly 2 years ago, if they are holding their bow, they are armed, and therefore are subject to being engaged and hit, with no penalty or shame upon the engaging fighter. ...

the ice falcon plastic gaunts work really well with the street hockey gloves (the red ones) he sells. I have big paws and they fit me just fine. find a friend with a leather needle and artificial sinew and you can stitch 'em up in an hour or so. If you need it, We'll have said needle and sinew at wa...

You know Leo, there was a COtT a few years ago when you put my left arm in a pretty serious arm bar across your chest and I had to resort to stabbing you in the back of your shoulder to get out of it. Some people want to remove the ability of archers to yield before being struck. Others don't realize that the rules changed over two years ago, and still believe archers aren't liable to full contact. Not quite. Those who are saying full contact archers only are asking for rule changes that let hea...

here I have to dissagree with you. I swat flys and mousquitos that annoy me, don't you? If someone steps out onto the battlefield, that means they KNOW they can be struck with any weapon on that field. That includes the ones in my hands. I say strike any archer you engage with with authority (inser...
