cmon. really? I totally dissagree with his attitude about CA, and he even is quite irritating about the subject. but sadism? a bit extreme there mon ami Seeing as how the gripe is *NOT* that he can't defeat them (as he can by forcing them to yield), but that he can't strike them full force...he mus...

That of course is only on the rare occasions that they are standing in the open. In static situations they have full reign to strike opponents who have no chance at returning a blow to an archer even if they happen to block arrows all day long. Thank you for once again demonstrating that you care m...

I'm honestly shocked if you've never run down a single combat archer. I have many times but what is the point of it? What have I done to my honor if I should strike them? If they are rundown they rarely if ever get the chance to draw a backup weapon and where is the chivalry in striking down an una...

yeah, and the legal advice was don't cast a copy of the copy, make your own mold from scratch. I'm sure whoever made them the first time still has the molds, can we track down the manufacturer? I've got one stashed away in the garage, but it doesn't do anyone else any good. and I would like to have ...

yes, and that's coming from a merc. well, I may have found someone i can follow these days but that's neither here nor there. not tactics and strategy so much, but missile weapons and mercs, true. but it's the Pennsic War, Lillies War, Gulf Wars, etc. so missiles and mercs are fair and proper. now s...

Re: Tutorial- wet-formed leather vambraces
I decided to do a tutorial after I had already done the first step, but you will get the idea fairly easily. Step One- Take paper towel and wrap it around your forearm. Hold it in place with several strips of duct tape. After you have taped ALL over your forearm with about four layers of tape, take...

ok, so veg tan is what you want for hardened armour parts. I really like my latigo turnshoes, but am wondering if i can stretch the vamp of em just a bit? I've heard of some folks wearing thier new shoes wet to get a better fit, but I'm assuming that won;t work so well on latigo. can they be stretch...

I made my tool. Pretty simple, actually. I bought the longest fence pliers from harbor freight. Like these: m Then I softened the ends and punched them with a rounded end on a center punch. Matching dimples in both sides and a little re-hardening. Done. The shape is nice, sort of pointy to get into...

Most medieval mercs were second sons, disinherited or somehow not financially connected with the landholding economy. Hint-hint. This *is* a period situation. If the Royals want more loyalist soldiers then they should recruit in some new fashion. I know the thread is a bit past the merc topic, but ...

I'm not looking for viking boots, but the ease that Westland changed the construction from a welted sole to a true turnshoe makes me want to know if he can do the 14th C boots in a turnshoe construction just as easily. Westland, how about it? 6th line down in the first message. I am planning on doi...

hadn't thought of using a throw away material for a prototype... you're full of good ideas! Thanks, I appreciate the suggestions.

Re: Hi
Hi there, Steel patterns should work for a leather demi gauntlet, if your doing hourglass style you can just stitch the cuff and metacarpal together. Take care Pitbull Actually, steel patterns make a starting point. The difference in thickness is a very real issue in patterning, leading to leather ...

So my first attempt at an Ottoman styled sword, there are a few things I will do different next time. Possibly work on getting the cross guard anodized to match the pommel.
