we have lots of little sayings and visuals around here; "make the noise"-the involuntary hhhnnhhhugghhh sound when you cut someones gutty-works. IE, he made the noise that time "spanked"- wrap shot to the ass "wading in like Mechagodzilla"- cutting a swath through a line in a melee, comes from watch...

kind of forgot one thing here. after having all ranks on both sides broken, I would ride away form yon single footman, and find a bunch of my buds on their horses, and come back and ride his silly ass down. after all, my job is to destroy the other armay, right? not fiddle around in single combat. W...

think B3. you cant go wrong. of course you are talking about a couple of dollars wqith the B3. Check auctions that have tools and stuff like that. I live in Amish country and picked up a B3 at a Amish tool auction for $105.00 American. You can all feel jealous now. The same auction a three months la...

I think that the poster who said "you really should take that shot. you don't want to make your opponant throw any harder than that" is pretty much right on the money. Usually I ask them something like "what about that one??" and if they still shrug it off, I just kind of raise one eyebrow and conti...

ok, just my two cents on the calibration thing. as for myself, you gotta hit me so that i feel dead. when i feel dead, i fall down. if i don't feel dead, i swing at your head. once in a great while, an opponant, usually a newer fighter, will say something like "how about those wraps/head shots/legs ...

not step on a poisenous snake? of course you do. force levels at pennsic 30 (long, sorry)
not many of you know me on sight, but I fight with Darkyard for the Midrealm. I've been reading alot of posts on this and other boards about "disturbing trends" involving force levels at sca wars. I've really not noticed anything at pennsic 30 to say that I can see any kind of trend to escalation of...

sca spear construction
anyone have any new bright ideas on spear construction? I've made a few of the things and have never been truely satisfied with any of the construction methods I've used. Either a bit tip heavy or too stiff or just "not right". I'm finally going to make spears out of the fiberglass shafts I have lef...

if the stake doesnt match the hole in the plte really well, make sure that the stake bears on the top of the hole rather than the bottom, otherwise you are askin g to blow the bottom out of the plate. Never happened to me, but a friend who was working in my shop did just that with a stake/plate hole...

seems to me the felt would be restrictive a bit and hot hot hot besides. as for felt being period, put a couple layers of wool in a gambeson, sweat in it as you fight a couple of times and walla, felt. ok, so its not quite as simple as that, but the end result is the same. wool+wet+pressure makes fe...
