hi there I have been active in the youth combat area lately. have you seen or used PEX for swords? it is available at home depot for a buck a foot or a coil of 25 feet for under $13. the swords must be taped linearly with strapping tape to not bend. it is lighter than PVC and makes darn good swords....

spend $50 more and get a harbor freight B1 knockoff shear.

a jigsaw works well but the shear is superior if you are going to be making much.

I say try three coats of contact cement. you could even coat both sides if you wanted. I havbe found contact cement to be great primer for alum.

if the contact cement soaks into the canvas enough it should be much more rip resistant.

if it does rip you can glue it down again.

hi

cut it with a die grinder and a thin kerf abrasive wheel.

the low tech solution would be a circular saw and a metal cutting wheel.

then grind it into shape with an angle grinder.

but of course the easiest but most expensive approach is send it back to the maker for modifications.

Hi there I wrote a short essay on it.helm padding. it starts out: padding a helm. theory: the padding shall absorb the blows force instead of your head. open cell is important to having a very safe helmet. it absorbs much of the impact when things get rough. if you plan to fight for a long time then...

Re: Unpadded Polearms

These are some general questions to broaden my horizons and to look at this topic from a different (more positive) perspective. (If you use one) Why do you opt to use an unpadded polearm? Why do you prefer an unpadded one to a padded polearm? Do you find it to be advantageous over a padded polearm?...

I'll disagree with sirmarks on this one. Unpadded polearms do not behave correctly for the simple reason that a polearm is a mass weapon. A steel head on a 6" or longer shaft will seriously affect the balance and handling charecteristics of a weapon. Padded polearms can (not always) simulate that w...

hi unpadded. weapon looks and work better. the flow of an unpadded is much more natural feeling. padding adds head weight which is hard to counterbalance.
