hi there I have been active in the youth combat area lately. have you seen or used PEX for swords? it is available at home depot for a buck a foot or a coil of 25 feet for under $13. the swords must be taped linearly with strapping tape to not bend. it is lighter than PVC and makes darn good swords....

I pipe the output through a 10"(its what I had) flex duct from homedepot $35 to $40. I pipe to output directly on my head when weldi...

Hi there I wrote a short essay on it.helm padding. it starts out: padding a helm. theory: the padding shall absorb the blows force instead of your head. open cell is important to having a very safe helmet. it absorbs much of the impact when things get rough. if you plan to fight for a long time then...

Gaston said so it well I cant add much. shoogoo is very good on foam and rattan. it holds and flexes where other glues do not. for foam on foam contact cement is the best. the strapping tape must be 3M scotch premium. I bought 36 rolls on ebay for $48 lots of strapping tape deals there. love and car...

Hmm I think we need to redefine unpadded polearm with the following. how about "a long piece of rattan with some tape stuck on it." those things suck rocks. lots of bad and no good about them. I totally agree with those who hate them. they are eeevil and need to be destroyed. took me a while to figu...

Re: Unpadded Polearms
These are some general questions to broaden my horizons and to look at this topic from a different (more positive) perspective. (If you use one) Why do you opt to use an unpadded polearm? Why do you prefer an unpadded one to a padded polearm? Do you find it to be advantageous over a padded polearm?...

hehe good eye the beautiful glaiveheld by aveloc is "NOT" sca legal but it easily could be... if he wanted it so. we discussed the possibilities. wouldnt be so difficult to make it "sca legal". but the tip would be different and the sides would have a 1 1/4 profile. the rest would remain the same. I...

I'll disagree with sirmarks on this one. Unpadded polearms do not behave correctly for the simple reason that a polearm is a mass weapon. A steel head on a 6" or longer shaft will seriously affect the balance and handling charecteristics of a weapon. Padded polearms can (not always) simulate that w...

hi unpadded. weapon looks and work better. the flow of an unpadded is much more natural feeling. padding adds head weight which is hard to counterbalance. (If you use one) Why do you opt to use an unpadded polearm? Why do you prefer an unpadded one to a padded polearm? dont have to hit as hard. easi...

hal if you are working mild try a hard polyethelene face on your hammer or some other nonmarring plastic. the real trick is forming without leaving work marks. that means no pinching or hammermark harder deeper than any other. you can also try a large faced hammer on your v.a.r. and dishing into a b...

the issue is as complex as the tactics and the effects of a 12ft. my biggest issue is wars with 12s are not fun for the majority. the guys with 12s love it while the rest suffer getting pasted over and over. we really dont have a "rushem and beatem" culture that would curtail their use. everybody ha...

hmmm for those of you who havent fought around 12s. the 12 engages the line very early especially when they are a bit forward of the advancing line. the enemy line has three choices. 1. to meet the 12 with a 12 or a nine who wants to defend against some one he cant reach without extending way beyond...

A) Sorry, MRKS, didn't mean to include you in the "we" comment. Ammend that to "many agree that it's just at training issue" and we can agree to disagree on it. You state that 12s reduce the impact/use/efficency of poles and great swords. Huh... I respectfully disagree. They force you to better use...
