So we seem to agree with Parlan...it's a training issue. no "we" do not agree its an issue of leverage and weight. even the most skilled of spearman hits too hard sometimes. moch more often than a nine. Edit: Morgan just said the same thing in the post above mine, and said it better My interpretation of the physics of Sir Markus' post: The increased length of the spear means that gravity has additional leverage to work with. This makes the spear harder to hold parallel to the ground when holding i...

hi I couldnt stand the deflection and bending so I edged it with .080 Ti and ran reenforcing strips down the center to quiet it down. when I first started fighting leg taking consisted of hitting the edge of the shield so hard it moved out of the way and then easily taking the leg. thank god we dont...

I thought the wicker and shit comment rocked but didnt go further with it incase this was a serious topic. I can now see what you wanted a super light shield for. titanium shields are heavier than alum. mine is .040 and weights 9lbs. if you want a linen covered shield just paint two layers of contac...

This is a newbie question, but I just don't see how someone can hit you so much harder with a 12', more flexible spear than with a 9', more rigid spear. Sure, there's 3 extra feet of rattan mass into the blow, but the shaft will flex more... Am I looking at the physics wrong? Also, isn't it normal ...

So, why not let us 12's have our fun? We are less of a threat because there are only a very few per side. We are safe as a 9' if we know what we are doing (and I do). If you want battles that are more close up then have battles that have a 6' or 7.5' rule. Those battles are great too but they are n...
