How about one with no flare in the cuff? A left-handed one, for a shield..

What would the price be?

They look slightly better if covered in thin leather.

Do NOT paint them creamy brown.. that's just gross.. Image

I still don't use them (see, Vitus? I am not all sport, despite the square shield!)

Thanks Tessa, I understand the situation better. Thanks a lot for the explanation. We do have declared death from behind in the West, and archers are allowed to shoot someone in the back, technically, but kingdom culture is suc that they don't; this is mostly an issue for me at inter-kingdom events....

Tessa -- I pointed this one out earlier, but my post may have gotten buried (it was in the first thread). How can shooting people in the back be justified in our game? This is an action that is considered cowardly and base even in the *modern* world, much less a society with an emphasis on chivalry ...

If you don't think of them as thrusting tips, but pommels that you are allowed to hit with, then they are perfectly acceptable (as far as I am concerned) on all weapons. Parlan -- why do you say that pommel strikes don't work in SCA? Thrusting tips on swords are good, too. Maces? I can't picture a r...

One can make legal trowing axes that hit solid when they hit with the blade and look like axes. They do take more care and more expensive materials.

You'll notice that for the most part shield selection is persona-appropriate.
Square shields are actually period for most of the guys using them.
