Thanks, Adam, I will be at Pennsic for sure, and I am certain we can arrange a challenge. Samuel, you have a bad memory -- we met the day you got knighted. You come across a lot better in person; I would suggest you read your posts out loud before you post them because in writing, you don't do as go...

Bela, not having the helmet in my hot little hands yet, I don't know yet. Right now I fight in a tallish helmet -- best seen here, http://history.westkingdom.org/Year37/Photos/MSC18.htm -- it has a bit of a point on top. When it gets hit, it feels quite different from the other parts of the helmet. ...

Well I guess we disagree then http://www.armourarchive.org/ubb/biggrin.gif If a sword travels horizontally about a foot above my head and happens to make contact with a spike -- sorry, no good. [SCA] Floor mats for fighting?

Hi Guys, This is a question for the folks who do a lot of indoor fighting. When fighting in gyms, how do you prevent slipping? What about damage to the gym floors? What about fighting on concrete? Is there something that can be put down that would protect the leg armour and the fighters' knees from ...

Regarding Jaroslav's hat, I don't think there's enough of the original helmet to really tell. Looks like it, but large enough chunks are mussing that there could be something there..

I think. I only have a front and a side view -- don't know what's on the back and the other side.

Adam,
Are you going for an "artist's interpretation" of the Rus helm, or trying to get it close to the original? If you are going for the Jaroslav helmet look, the lines are a bit off. Cool look though. Would love to see it with the brass plate etched.

I've seen people use plastic on the sides of the axe to give it rigidity (the plastic stops about 1.5 inches short of the edge, so that it doesn't make contact with the person you hit). Add a clacker, as well.
