If I understand correctly, Brodir has padding at the top of the helmet -- a padded skullcap of sorts -- and it's only the sides and back that aren't padded.. I'd reccomend that you pad it in such a way that it doesn't hit your gorget. That just doesn't sound safe. But don't worry about the sides and...

Tim, you saw me in the very next battle pretty well -- well enough to put a bolt between my eyes, in fact. I tried to make my way to you to extract my revenge later, but you were hidden behind too many men for me to wade through http://www.armourarchive.org/ubb/smile.gif . Should've said hi at the W...

You can get fiberglass for spears from Mandrake, I payed around $36 for 9 feet this weekend. An excercise someone who is *really* good with a spear showed me is to stand in front of a tree and to lightly hit different leaves while looking at its center. Since all the leaves are at slightly diferent ...

Ok, so there we have two "first contact" accounts -- one from Gilbert and one from Jareth -- that are exactly opposite -- and they are about the SAME practice! I really think it often depends on the new person -- it is often unclear whether the unfamiliar face at a practice is someone new, someone f...

mrks -- close.. long blast is 5 minutes, 3 short blasts -- 3 minutes, then 2, then 1. They are also "Alden minutes", so they are actually like 45 seconds, which means helms on when you hear three blasts. Yes, Geoffrey Scott has done over 100 battles at his birthday war for 3 years now. He ups the nu...

I'll email you directions later on. Shieldwise -- I've got a centergrip kite I can loan you, could probably find a centergrip round, might swing a curved heater assuming roommate will loan it out. If I have my new shield done by then, you can also use my square. Or I could just give you a 6'4" glaiv...

Waldryk?
Hi guys,
A friend of mine who is new to the SCA wants to buy a relatively nice helmet to start fighting in. He was thinking of ordering one from Waldryk, but I seem to recall that this armourer, though an excellent craftsman, had some trouble meeting deadlines and such. Is this true?
