Alcy -- in general, Russian mail used round (not wedge) rivets. The sizes ranged, they never got "huge" across the board, although some shirts may have used bigger rings than others.

Maelgwyn and Gorm -- Some folks who had that problem found that chewing gum while fighting helps them. Try it out. In my experience, the key to fighting sword foot forward is to have the foot forward, but keep the hip cocked back. My big change this year is to stop using squares and go to kites and ...

The reason it is easier to penetrate a helmet from the inside than from the outside is that a loaded convex structure works mostly in compression, and in the concave structure it works mostly in tension. All common mateials, including steel, have much higher limiting stress in compression than in te...

There's an Osprey book that has a member of the Company in one of the full-color illustrations, and it shows him with a skull on his surcoat. I am not sure what the artist's sources were, but usually they are listed in the back of the book. It was either one of the Crusades Ospreys, or an Italian Ar...

The "turkic sabre" on the Alchem sabre is more or less the correct shape for you. The "steppe sabre", while such blades may have existed, looks a bit too straight to me. Email me your mailing address, I might be able to xerox some stuff for you. Use ryaboy at sbcglobal.net .

It's not just An Tir, it's the whole West Coast.

An Tir, West, Caid, Atenveldt, Artemesia, possibly others.

We all take thrusts to the whole head, and have yet to experience the horrific consequences predicted so vehemently by folks who are not used to the concept.

Looking for an SCA-legal bascinet

Hi Guys,
Who has SCA-legal klapvisor bascinets for sale? Either in stock of a fairly short wait.

This is for a new person who wants to do things "right." Price range of about $200.
