I'd say Caid has the best-dressed fighters. I've been impressed by a lot of folks from Atlantia and Middle. Atenveldt is quite well-outfitted, too, especially the Landskenechts. Outlands has Kragon .. I confess that I don't get the Calontir look at all. The sea of purple lacks any aesthetic draw for...

Same place they've always come from. People who are into the same stuff we are into. As far as lack of young people -- have you read the society rules regarding minors? When you treat everyone under 18 as an infant, and everyone under 21 as a miscreant, don't be surprised if young people don't feel ...

In the West, intentional cup shots are taboo, and "arm hunting" is discouraged -- not like cup shots, but more like the thrust between the legs described earlier -- they are seen as cheesy. We also don't "climb on top" of a legged opponent (that one surprised me a lot my first Pennsic).

Freiman -- I am not picturing a shield hook combined with a moulinet. Wouldn't your elbow/forearm have to go through the area where the shields are? A regular offside would seem to work better (throw an onside snap or wrap to get shield to drift out, hook the shield and throw an offside to the ribs ...

Weird strapping system, but cool leather work. Sure they are legal -- since it's not required, there are no specs for spaulders (unless your kingdom has something), other than not being dangerous to you or your opponent.

Tarquin -- ever try to do the opposite, onside snap rolled into a thrust? The wrap is worlds tougher to get correctly than any other single blow. The timing has to be practically perfect for it to not ruin your elbow, connect with power, and get past the opponent's defences. But it's oh so glorious when it works!

Since it sounds like you are pretty much top dog in your local group -- just make a decision not to hit someone who is right in front of you at practice. Make yourself be at a 45 degree angle to your opponent to deliver a killing blow -- that should make you move around plenty! Also, try making a si...

Heh. I am sure there's a better, more dignified name for it. It's when your sword is in front of your face, protecting your head -- tip down and over the shield, almost horizontal.. I am not explaining this well. Here are a few illustrations (courtesy of keradwc.com) http://www.keradwc.com/19991010_...

Well out East they tend towards the swrod-forward styles -- A-frames and boxer's stances are more common. Power is generated with the upper body, much like a stong punch. The west coast tends towards high styles like Bellatrix and Oldcastle, sword on the shoulder, arm up, power generated by the rota...

You can totally get your shield in there, esp. if you are using a kite -- you don't even compromise your leg coverage.
