Logan -- do not waste your time on ignorant rumour-mongerers. Your effort is better spent elsewhere. Re Atlantian "thugs" -- I never had a blow acknoledgement problem with them. In fact, I seek out Atlantians when I go to Pennsic, because they are usually men after my own heart. They like a tough fi...

Tarquin -- surprisingly, no. I duck my head to the side, and shots just slide off without finding any purchase. It only becomes somewhat harder than regular if I am legged and fighting a standing opponent -- the wraps become harder to block. Usually I manage to lean back enough that the wraps woosh ...

My polovetz helmet from Patrick Thaden.

The welded shirt is pretty important, too, but if I had to choose, i would rather lose the left arm then the right, you know what I mean?

Western crowns have topped 90, too.

But keep working on it! Image The more the merrier!

Now, can you guys beat 117 battles in one day?

Uillea,
YOu should try using thick sheepskin for padding. It looks better, doesn't deteriorate the way foam does, and feels better next to your skin.

How do you get the colors? Paint?

Alcyoneus -- that's not necessary if he's dealing with a professional welder. "Structurally superior design and worksmanship."
Gotta make sure those are damn good welds though!

Yeah, I love the ones you have one the GAA site, really nice lines. Sorry, didn't realize you were the guy doing GAA leather stuff until I checked out your site. The fantasy comment was more about the decoration, but I guess that's not so much your decision as that of the guy who commissioned them h...

I oredered to simple belt blanks from Frank, he delivered quickly. The leather quality is better than most of what I've used for belts before; he'll definately have more business from me.

Looks a lot like WMA's pattern. I am impressed it can be done so well in leather. How long does it take you to make a pair like that?

I like the lines of it, Hal. Alcyoneus gave you the technical specs; as is, it looks like the bars might be spaced a bit too far apart. Another area I might be concerned about is between the cheekplate and the back plate -- if the gap is too big there, on could get hit directly on the noggin! A solu...

Russ Mitchell is your best friend when it comes to maguyars. You'll get more help if you ask specific questions.. for a quick look at the cultures, grab the corresponding Osprey books. I am not *quite* as peeved about Faramir after they showed the background scene with Boromir and Denethor. His "time for Faramir... to show his quality" line makes sense now.

Extended ent scenes were cool. More fighting, yay.

The stuff in case 6 is later period, it's 13/14th century, probably Cuman. That is indeed a helmet. The drawing that follows the photo in the article (after a bunch of text) is a reconstruction based on that particular find (yes, they even found leg armor and vambraces!) The hauberk is a contemporar...
