Stirring up a can of worms...
I have seen post after post after post of what the sca is, what it should be, yadda-yadda. To state my opinion *again* - I love the sca, I love being as authentic as I can possibly be within the limits of mundane cashflow ( i will not put my family in a bind for a hobby) BUT I saw something interest...

Meridies currently has a great sword rule that basically states your handle of your greatsword must be less than half the entire length of the sword. This gives the ability to have a ricasso, and allows half-handing. There is great discussion as to if this is by default letting in unpadded glaives (...

OK< its not armour, it deals with combat, but its not authentic. Where tha hell does this topic go??!?! I am looking for a pattern for a basket hilt. I have seen several people with these baskets that are king of elongated, and not dished but rather kind of "folded". This is for our loaner arms and ...

I have the HF one, and yes thats what it looks like to me.. however, my Knight has the whitney jr., and it looks the same too. The biggest difference... The one from HF does NOT punch 16 ga. SS, and barely punches 16 ga. Mild. For aluminum and 18 gauge, it will punch all day long. If you punch 16 ga...

try swapping the basket hilts around. My guess ( and its only a guess) is that the difference is weight of the baskets is causing a shift in the point of balance. When you throw a shot with the 1/4" bar hilt, it "feels" as though you are throwing it with the same force as when you throw the other, b...

Not to mention that the minimum thickness of rattan is 1 and 1/4" , meaning its diameter. at the point of contact, the rattan is is but a mere "line" . If that hits the brass cross over the eyeslot and there is nothing to back it, it will bend the brass in as far as the rattan will go ( which won't ...

I had originall made a set of hardened leather legs. When my wife made my gamboised cuisses, I took from the knee down off of the leather legs, pointed the cop to the cuisse, and put the cuisse over the upper leg portion, then tied off to the same belt. So, under my cuisses is hardened leather. work...

WAlMart sells flap disks for angle grinders, usually about 24 grit, which is WAYYYYYYY to rough for sanding anything ( i used them to carve wood, or to cut pieces of metal) After doing cutting through a bunch of 14 ga. mild, I got really frustrated because the sanding disk was worn out. In our group, the first 4-5 fighter practices for a new person is very slow, relaxed, and overseen by our Knights'Marshal (me). There are minimum lengths for fiberglass spears in Meridies, but that rule is being questioned and possibly done away with. Currently, 9 foot spears only can be of fiberglass. The new book is possibly going to be out near the end of may, which will then tell meridies for sure if we have gone to soci...
