I used a piece of solid metal pipe the same size as the openign of the thumb hole. The hole tapers in as it goes down. I took a 10 lb. sledge and beat the crap out of the pipe until it siezed down tight into the tapered area. Hasn't come loose yet. And just a word of advice, I know your smart enough...

If I don't eat on time, I get terrible headaches and can't hardly function... Lunch HAS to happen between 11:00 and 12, by 12:30 its too late. dinner HAS to happen before 7. 7:30 - too late. a lot of people think I use it as an excuse to get out of fighting, but I swear, sometimes these headaches ge...

Coat of Plates was widely used at the battle of Wisby (1361) and *many* different variations were found. The COP was derived from the armoured surcoat, which existed largely in the 12th century. Maybe for a tuetonic knight 1250-1300, armoured surcoat might be a better term to use. But I believe that...

oh, one thing I forgot - the armour doesn't really vary from a common soldier, to a templar, to a teutonic knight, etc. - they basically wore the armour of the era. There are some good books that detail arms and armour of the crusading era - here is one: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/185367...

Fighting a lefty is harder (I am a lefty) because it doesn't happen as often. Sure you can say "watch a righty-righty", but if you don't get to *use* what you see, it doesn't stick to the muscle-memory/shot-memory lobe in the brain. The hard shots to block are really dependant on your shield type. F...

Wow, didn't I open a can of worms - I mean a big 'ol can of 'em too... Firstly, IMHO, the problem is not with archers who are archers and thats it. Those archers seem to yield an not get hit. Without actually inspecting the helms I would SCA no. After inspecting the helms, I would still probably say no. Part of the inspection is to push (not hit) the face plate in a In-and-Up motion to make sure the helm doesn't compact down on the nose. Its not held down by anything, so it would probabl...

I've solved the mystery. It is the rattan quality. Sir Baras broke his stick this weekend, he's only had it since October. The lighter sticks ( i forgot what he said, for some reason i am thinking Burmese Rattan, I dunno) breaks a lot sooner. The density is much less ( lighter weight, faster shot) b...

No no no.. I am not saying you hit someone after they yield. I am saying they don't yield, proceed to load another arrow, and then get upset when you hit them. And then call you dishonorable for hitting an archer. My opinion is -- if they yield, cool - no dishonor in that. No one is required to figh...

I'm not pickin' on ya Ulrich, something you said just got me thinking. In the Rules of the List, we learn: <B>7. No one may be required to participate in Combat-Related Activities. Any combatant may, without dishonor or penalty, reject any challenge without specifying a reason. A fight in a tourname...

I put my maciejowski style helm down and picked up a grilled spangen for a demo for the opneing of LOTR.

I think I still have bruises. I could see so much more, but that meant there was so much more to distract me.

I think I will stick to viewing the world from a 3/4" slot.

Meridies is touch kill to the face. BUT Unless I am totally reading the rules wrong, it has to be intentional touch. i.e. - If the thrust was to your buddy Mr .Shieldguy, and he moves and it glances and in the follow through touches you, it wasn't intentionally thrusted at you. But if the same touch...
