I've been limited to living in An Tir and Drachenwald. I would vote for Drachenwald all the way though. Some coolness factor in going to the local 500 year old church to get some ideas for armor.

You could try doing the normal softball mace with foam over it and then making Shallow spikes out or foam and attaching them on and then Rubber coating the entire thing. Check local rules for legality of this first though.
