Okay, I'm willing to go with buying aiglets or chapes, but I don't have the time to lucet braid points for an entire kit between now and October 10th. What good cord would you buy? Anyone know of a good, thick linen or silk cord supplier? I make cord with my drill, a phillips screwdriver and an anv...

Charles Boutell from Kessinger Publishing review?

Anyone ran across these before?

Kessinger Publishing's Legacy Reprint Series is doing a bunch of Charles Boutell's books and I am wondering if anyone has ran into these and can give me a review. I am hoping that they are nice and picture laden like the Boutrell book I have.

There's some sort of stylistic differnce, and I am not sure if it's fashion, or art. English almost always show a heraldic surcoat. German, however, I am not sure of. I am guessing that the art is showing fashion, i.e. the Germans might have worn armour out more regularly.

So, with the fresco, I am seeing 2 distinct styles, being driven by the shield style. The oval is being fought straight out, with the hand much closer to the top edge. In that case, I would think that it can be fought similarly to this video of me losing. However, with the rectangular shield, hand d...

I actually fight with my kite strapped in the same fashion. What I end up doing, and am seeing in the artwork you have, is fighting with it straight out. The shield then acts like a buckler, with quick coverage of legs and head by rotating the hand to provide a "line defense".

The grad student vikings at Birka were talking about doing some bad weather kits for an expirement that they were doing (longboats to Greenland, IIRC). I think that they were doing oiled buckskin. You should be able to talk to the Museum of National Antiquities, as they run the Birka site.

when you are getting legged, you are nice and tall and your stick is horizontal. When you block them, you drop your butt and get your stick more vertical. I think it's because of the way that you are bailing by leaning. Your torso elongates and it's harder to get contract back down again to get the ...

IIRC, the last 2 holdouts on the 12's were Antir and the West kingdom. Over the last few years there has been a "if you won't, I won't" in place at A/W war. I cut my 12's down last year.

Braeburn Pottery (SP)? Does anyone know how to contact them?

I am looking to replace a mug I broke over the weekend. Does anyone know how to contact Braeburn Pottery? I was told they attend Estrella and Pennsic, then my google-fu was weak.

Trying to remember the history. IIRC, his 50th B-day was at A/W war in Eugene in 2001, which would make him 59.
