there are also some artwork examples. My Nicholes book is loaned out at the moment, I will see what I can dig up.

iirc, the few examples of face plated english bascinets are out there tend to show this style.

Lance evolution?

I am curious, I have seen the early period lances, which are basically a stick with a metal tip. I have seen the 16th century jousting lances, but what I have no concept of, is what was being used in the middle? Of course I have a 14th century bias. So I am seeing the lance rests various breast plat...

WMA Bascinet w/Klap and Hounskull

Bought this years ago, fought with it a few times, but it never fit quite right. Left it in the garage and it got rusty. About 6 months ago I proceeded to attempt to clean it up and work on getting it to fit me. I've since found a WMA Kettle that should work, and my wife is telling me that I don't n...

As an aside, I did some test cutting years ago with an unsharpened sword. The medium was a suspended 2 liter water bottle. The sword was an unsharpened Tinker sword with a blade that he had done by someone else (it was from before he was doing blades). I was ungloved, as I wanted to see what would h...

pitching in another vote for hidden motocross/downhill mtn bike shin guards.

I have been wearing this style for years. The only issue is that the plastic under the knee cop tends to break, not a big deal though, as it's under the knee cop.

iirc, for much of the 14th century in England, there were sumptuary laws against decorative trim. Something about a wartime economy being the reason. I have no citations for that at the moment though. There was stuff done all of the time that was hidden, just to show off what I could do. Conspicuous...
