Re: An old project returns
I've just been told that my pics in this thread are no longer showing up. I can still see them, but perhaps they are in my computer's "cash". Are they showing up for other people? If not, does someone have an idea where the problem might be? The pics are hosted on a Google Photo album, and I have no...

That's an unusually tall helmet. If you are a tall guy with a long neck, then go for it. If your proportions are more main stream, you might want to chose a different helmet.

In prep to use my new source of heat really felt I needed a clearer workspace. Here is what my previous one looked like (plus some clutter from moving stuff) The plastic bags, tarps, and the large painted swamp cooler make me hesitant to use torch flame around there. I did stuff in the backyard (di...

I've never seen boxy breastplates being sold "off the shelf" for that price. Any suggestions? I'm afraid I don't. Guess my memory didn't hold up. Looking closer now, it seems the artists may have simply been depicting armours that were rough from the hammer, thus the slight highlights? Or perhaps it was a characterful elaboration. Either way it appears darker, not necessarily blackened i suppose, or blackened ...

I would be interested to see that painting! I once heard that at least in a lot of manuscripts, the black colour of the armour pieces were a result of oxidation from silver, which was used to let the armour in the drwings shine. That idea that black armor in art is based on oxidization of silver is...

That's a pretty good breast for first decade or so of the 15th C. Was this type no longer used after the first decade? That stop rib is getting a bit old fashioned by 1420, and breasts would be starting to get a bit boxy by 1425 or '30. Have a look over on the Manuscript Miniatures site and try som...

Is it possible to get a simple but accurate 15th century(-ish) breastplate below € 300? And when yes, where? I saw this breastplate but I'm not sure whether it's accurate enough.
