The process is smoothing out with repetition, and I'm getting faster as well. The state of my elbow(s) still keeps me from just sitting down and finishing the job in one session, thought. For those who are wondering, this is how big an escapement file is. Some have longer handles (all the higher quality ones do), but the business end is only about 45 mm long. Nice color!
Are you going to leave it like that or bring the hems and swooshes up to bright steel? Either way would look good, but I think a bit of bright would really make the whole thing "pop".

While the bulk of the edge work is going to be a series of "conjoined, drunken fleurs" with the negative spaces being "squashed hearts", the stuff in between the flutes is a collection of different things. The edge work is going to be a slog that will take several days. I started with the cuff "doors" last night, and got them done this morning. The Schloss Tirol altarpiece (c. 1370-1372) and the Toggenbuerg Bible (c. 1411) both show big checked blue-and-white pillows at the head of beds. It looks like you did a fine job on the hosen!
A slightly longer skirt on the arming garment would be enough to keep the hosen "decent" under most circumstances. The ones in the iconography seem (mostly) to cover the gluteal fold. So... I'm thinking about three fingers longer in the back.
